Position Description

Morning Gate Church Inc., located in beautiful Fredericton, NB, is seeking a full-time Senior Pastor who will work in collaboration with the Board of Directors and will guide ministry team leaders as they build and encourage our community of believers.

Morning Gate Church was formed in 1989 and belongs to the Congregational Christian Churches in Canada. With 100 members and adherents, we are a multigenerational, multi-ethnic congregation. We prioritize Bible teaching in a welcoming, loving, and relaxed environment in which to discover and grow our faith and exercise our God-given gifts.

Who you are:

• You are a servant leader who practices the ways of Jesus and lives with integrity.
• You feel a deep calling to be a shepherd who spiritually leads and joyfully serves amongst the sheep.
• You are a life-long learner and have a deep faith and love for the Lord and His church.
• You are trustworthy and confidential.
• You have a theology-related degree from an accredited Seminary or Bible College.
• You have a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
• Equivalent education and experience may be considered.
• You have the gift of preaching and teaching the Word using sound doctrine.
• You are a skilled and effective communicator.
• You are organized and have a strong work ethic.
• You are a Canadian citizen or a Permanent Resident currently residing in Canada.
• You are fluent in English.
• You are willing to become a member of Morning Gate Church and to be credentialed with the Congregational Christian Churches in Canada before commencing employment.

As a Senior Pastor, you will:

• Prioritize strong collaboration and clear communication with the Board of Directors and by working with the Elders to identify and bring visionary ideas to life.
• Foster unity in purpose and decision-making within the church leadership.
• Inspire congregants and encourage seekers in their walk with the Lord by being the primary Sunday morning Bible-based preaching voice.
• Model and encourage individuals to use and give of their time, resources, talents, and spiritual gifts for the vision and mission of the church.
• Preserve and continue to encourage deep connectedness amongst the church family.
• Lead and coordinate Spirit-led, blended worship services in collaboration with ministry team leaders.
• Use a pastoral approach when navigating secular culture and Biblical truth.
• Connect and support the congregation with service opportunities.
• Mentor and oversee the Children’s Ministry leaders.
• Extend pastoral care to all congregants, with support from the Elders, at significant life moments such as marriages, baptisms, baby dedications, funerals, crises, hospitalizations, or as required.
• Relate to and encourage all generations in ways that are meaningful and helpful in their life stage.
• Facilitate, lead, and encourage Bible studies.
• Lead weekly prayer meetings.
• Operate within Morning Gate Church’s Constitution and Bylaws.

Salary/Benefits:

• Salary range: $52,000-$65,000
• Salary is commensurate with education and years of experience.
• Salary and benefits will be negotiated prior to signing an employment agreement.
• Benefits may include health insurance, RRSP or pension, annual leave (vacation, sick, study).
