Toronto Christian Community Church (TCCC):
Toronto Christian Community Church (TCCC, “the church” hereafter) is a multilingual, multi-cultural, multi-congregational Chinese ethnic intergenerational church located in the prime area of Markham and Toronto, first established in 1975, celebrating its 50 years of God’s grace and spiritual faithfulness to its call to bless the community with the Kingdom presence of the ministries at the Acadia Campus and at the 105 Gibson Centre. TCCC’s mission statement is ‘To Grow Missional Disciples of Jesus Christ and to Impact the World with Compassion and Reconciliation’. The Cantonese congregation has over 900 attendees across three worship services (two on Sundays and one on Saturday, named ARISE).
Job Summary:
We are seeking for a compassionate and shepherd-hearted Cantonese Pastor (Caring and Hospitality Focus) who will nurture missional disciples through intentional caring and hospitality ministries. We are inviting a seasoned pastor with a Kingdom mindset and a strong commitment and belief in discipleship to join our pastoral team.
The primary mandate of this role is to lead and develop a hospitality team, working strategically alongside lay leaders to coordinate holistic pastoral care and caring ministries, support congregants through various life stages, and cultivate a strong sense of belonging and mutual care.
Equally important, this role will focus on nurturing missional disciples through small groups as the church considers small groups as the core operational units for spiritual maturation and positions small groups as the major platform. This role requires a dynamic, visionary, and creative pastor who can equip, train, and empower lay leaders and small group leaders to foster an authentic and contextually relevant Christian community and encourage spiritual growth.
General Responsibilities:
To fulfill the general pastoral responsibilities as a Pastor in TCCC, including leading the caring and hospitality ministries, contributing to small group discipleship, and training the leaders. Pastoral duties also include preaching, teaching, visitation, preparing for and officiating funerals and weddings, working with the Cantonese pastors as well as the pastors from other congregations, collaborating with the staff of 105 Gibson Centre, and performing other duties as assigned by the Cantonese Lead Pastor and the Senior Pastor.
Key Responsibilities:
Congregational Caring and Hospitality:
- Provide pastoral care through one-on-one meetings, visitation (homes, hospitals, and seniors’ homes), spiritual counseling, spiritual guidance, prayer support, and biblical counsel for individuals and families.
- Welcome and care for newcomers by providing follow-up calls and visits, and referring them to seekers’ classes, membership classes, fellowships, and small groups.
- Support congregants who are experiencing illness, bereavement, family crises, or financial hardship.
- Coordinate and collaborate with lay leaders to provide practical assistance to those with immediate needs.
- Arrange and officiate weddings and funeral or memorial services as required.
- Collaborate with the pastoral team to address and respond to the spiritual and care needs of the church.
Responsibilities in the Caring Ministry (CM)
- Lead the Caring Ministry and strengthen its role as the primary training ground and support system for practicing the biblical command to “love one another.”
- Oversee the existing units within the department, including but not limited to the Welcoming (Hospitality) Team, small groups, and related training and service initiatives.
- Build strong connections with other ministries, especially the Body Life Ministry (BLM). While BL oversees and provides overall direction for existing fellowships and small groups, CM plays a strategic role in welcoming/hospitality, helping newcomers settle into the church as their spiritual home.
- Provide training, pastoral care, and coaching to lay leaders, and lead local outreach and mission efforts to impact the community.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Grounded with strong theological foundation in the Evangelical tradition but with an ecumenical openness and a firm commitment to holistic biblical truths. Having training in spiritual direction is a plus.
- A deep passion for missional discipleship with a Kingdom mindset, and proven experiences in pastoral care, small group development and disciple-making.
- Reveal a mature personality and strong interpersonal skills: relational, engaging, warm, welcoming, collaborative and communicative; demonstrating a pastoral heart, with a genuine passion to nurture, equip, and shepherd God’s people.
- Proven leadership and team-building ability in equipping lay leaders, on top of individual pastoral care in a church or ministry setting.
- Proven strong skills in mobilizing people and implementing effective ministry strategies.
- Appreciate a trilingual congregational church setting and is ready to serve it. Cross-cultural experience, including exposure to a non-Chinese context, is an asset.
- Fluency in Cantonese (spoken and written) and proficiency in English. Knowing Mandarin is a plus.
Qualifications:
- A committed follower of Jesus Christ, demonstrating spiritual maturity, integrity, a firm commitment to the Gospel of the Kingdom.
- A Master of Divinity (MDiv) or its equivalent.
- A seasoned pastor with a minimum of 5 years pastoral and management experience in relevant roles.
- In agreement with TCCC’s tenant of faith, core values and the mission statement.

- A renowned reputation (both within the church and in the community)
- Humility and self-control
- Kindness in leadership
- Pursuit of goodness and holiness
- Servant leadership
- Faithful and responsible family commitment
Expected Outcomes:
- Growing and flourishing caring and hospitality ministries that foster spiritual transformation and missional discipleship.
