Position Description
McMaster Divinity College is seeking a qualified and enthusiastic employee who is committed to providing accurate and timely financial support to the Finance team. You will work alongside the Senior Finance Assistant and Vice President Finance.
This role is a new position.
- Start Date: As soon as possible
- Type: Part-time, 2 days/week (14 hours/week), in office
- Work Hours: 8:30 am – 4:30 pm
- Reports to: Vice President Finance
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Record bank activity (e-transfers, deposits, etc.) and record credit card activity (collecting and reviewing receipts)
- Prepare bank deposits
- Prepare bank and credit card statement reconciliations, along with related follow-up, to ensure complete and timely reporting
- Verify, record, and pay vendor invoices and staff expense reimbursements
- Prepare journal entries
- Maintain confidentiality and security of all financial information
- Participate in internal financial reporting
Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree or diploma in accounting or a related business field
- Minimum of 1-2 years in accounting or a similar role
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft 365, specifically Excel
- Proficient in accounting methods, proper internal control practices, and financial systems
- Highly detail-oriented, well-organized, efficient, and responsible
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with integrity
- Must work with a sense of urgency and demonstrate flexibility to prioritize and perform work effectively under pressure.
- Familiarity with government requirements/regulations for charities preferred
- Agreement with McMaster Divinity College’s Statement of Faith
Compensation Range: $23-25/hour, based on qualifications and experience
