Position Description

Are you looking to develop your skills in leading ministry in a local church context? Do you have a desire to invest in the lives of children and youth?

Forward Church is a multi-site church based in the Region of Waterloo and County of Brant. We are currently seeking a Children's & Student Ministries Intern for our Forward Brant location.

The intern will learn to develop and implement a plan for the spiritual formation of children and students, from infants to Grade 12, that complements the discipleship strategy of the whole church. This plan will function within the Ministry DNA of the church and accomplish our objectives of making disciples of Jesus who love God, love others, and serve the world. The Intern will serve in this role under the guidance of the Site Pastor and have access to mentoring from other Children's Ministry and Youth Ministry leaders.

The intern will have real world exposure to developing teams, planning lessons for teaching, and teaching students. You will learn how to build a ministry that supports families in their children's spiritual formation.

This is a two year, part time (20 hours per week) internship position that can start any time after July 1, 2026.

The successful candidate will be required to raise their own support for half of the hours in this position. We will assist you in learning how to do this and believe it will be an important part of your own leadership growth. If you are unable to raise the required support, we will adjust hours accordingly or work with you to find the best possible solution.

Candidates must be able to agree in belief and practice with the Articles of Faith, Covenant of Membership, and Lifestyle Statement of Forward Church.
