Job Title: Administrative and Communications Assistant
Job Type: Part-Time, 18 hours/week (Tuesday–Thursday, with occasional weekends to support events)
Compensation: $23.00/hour

Join Our Team!

Summit Community Church (SCC) is seeking a Part-Time Administrative and Communications Assistant to join our Operations Team. This role provides essential administrative, communications, and logistical support to the Director of Operations and various ministries across SCC.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with people, is highly organized and detail-oriented, and has a creative eye for design and communication. You’ll support both behind-the-scenes operations and select frontline responsibilities, helping ensure the smooth and effective day-to-day functioning of the church’s ministries.

What You’ll Do

Administrative

  • Oversee the main reception area, ensuring a welcoming, responsive, and well-organized environment during office hours
  • Greet and direct visitors; respond to inquiries in person, by phone, and via email
  • Manage the general inbox and incoming correspondence, responding, redirecting, and flagging priorities as needed
  • Ensure messages, requests, and information are communicated clearly and accurately to the appropriate individuals or ministry teams
  • Provide administrative and clerical support to the Director of Operations, staff, and ministry leaders
  • Coordinate communication and information for the church family and newcomers in a clear and welcoming manner
  • Maintain the church calendar, including event scheduling and facility bookings
  • Support general office operations, including managing supplies, mail distribution, and basic administrative tasks
  • Assist with printing and distributing teaching and ministry resource materials

Communications & Marketing

  • Coordinate and distribute weekly eblasts (Constant Contact) based on provided content
  • Create and schedule social media content (Instagram and Facebook)
  • Design engaging graphics for social media, eblasts, announcements, and ministry promotions
  • Develop promotional materials such as posters, flyers, and invitations
  • Prepare and distribute weekly communications (e.g., bulletins, newsletters)

Events & Logistics

  • Support logistics for ministry programs and special events, including supplies, food, and catering
  • Assist with event setup and behind-the-scenes coordination to ensure events run smoothly

What You Bring

Education & Experience

  • Post-secondary education in administration, communications, marketing, or a related field (college or university), or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 1–3 years of experience in administrative, office, or ministry support roles preferred
  • Experience creating digital and print graphics for communications or marketing purposes is an asset
  • Familiarity with church or non-profit environments is an asset

Skills & Attributes

  • Highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Creative with an eye for design, layout, and visual consistency
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Comfortable using tools such as Canva (or similar) and social media platforms
  • Familiarity with Planning Center Online (PCO) or willingness to learn
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Positive, service-oriented attitude with a heart for ministry
  • Willingness to learn new systems and adapt in a dynamic environment

Position Requirements

  • Legally eligible to work in Canada
  • Able to work onsite in Richmond Hill, including occasional weekends
  • Able to provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Demonstrates alignment with The Christian and Missionary Alliance’s doctrine and statements of faith
