Position Description

Bilberry Creek Baptist Church is looking for an associate pastor with the plan to progress to lead pastor within a couple of years. Are you passionate for pastoring a community of believers growing in discipleship? Are you guided by the Holy Spirit, and willing to work with the lead pastor and church leadership to serve God?

ORLEANS is an outer suburb of Ottawa. Orleans offers plenty for families with parks and shopping. It also offers hiking trails at Mer Bleu and the scenic Petrie Island on the Ottawa River. Orleans is a growing community with a multicultural group of people which is also reflected in our church family. We have a mix of ages and backgrounds.

Bilberry Creek Baptist Church (BCBC) is an English-Speaking gospel-centered church that was established in 1984. Bilberry Creek is a partner in the Canadian National Baptist Convention (CNBC) , and we are affiliated with the Evangelical Fellowship of Canada (EFC). We are a growing congregation of about 175-200 in attendance weekly. We aim to make and nurture disciples of Jesus Christ throughout all ages.

Vision: We are a vibrant, joyful, action-oriented church; biblically based, diverse, and uniquely qualified to bring the good news to the region, and the nations.

POSITION

We are looking for a fulltime candidate that will work with the lead pastor and church leadership to shepherd us, and to help our church family to continue to grow and serve because of love for Jesus Christ. Candidate must be teachable, compassionate and patient. If you have a desire to serve God by working with us, please prayerfully consider this opportunity.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Duties would include teaching, preaching, counselling, and coordinating with ministries. Experience in leading worship would be an asset.
  • Work with the worship commission and pastor to oversee preparation for Sunday worship.-
  • Organize / oversee weekly activities (e.g. prayer meetings, small groups, etc.)
  • Work with the leadership to fulfill the strategies to accomplish our mission
  • implement programs, activities and initiatives that align with the church’s vision and mission including expanding local community influence.

CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Training- Divinity /theological training with a master’s degree or willing to work towards it.
  • Some experience in church leadership.
  • You must be in agreement with the Statement of Faith of CNBC https://www.cnbc.ca and BCBC: https://www.bilberry.church
  • Must have good listening and communication skills – both orally and written.
  • French is an asset.
  • Must be good at problem solving and conflict resolution.
  • Must have the heart of a servant, and a love for people and their wellbeing.
