Position Description

The Position:
Reporting to the Dean of Students, the Departmental Assistant provides administrative support for Student Life staff and the Wellness Centre. The Departmental Assistant performs administrative duties required in the effective operation of the Student Life Department and the Student Wellness Centre.
- This position is 5 days/week (August 15-April 30) and 3 days/week (May 1-August 14) – FTE 88%
- Part-time opportunities can be considered.
- This role is under the Operations / Support 1 Job Class.
Responsibilities:
Administrative support for the Student Life staff
- Provide support for various aspects of the Student Life department. This will include support for the international student program, new student orientation, managing department files and network drives, monitoring email accounts and other assigned tasks.
- Provide focused support for the residence life program. This could include using Redeemer’s data management software (Colleague), inputting data, creating reports, booking rooms, processing applications, etc.
- Liaise with other departments in the university on behalf of the Student Life department
Administrative support for the Wellness Centre
- Support the Director, Student Health and Wellness and the Mental Health Care Manager to ensure the effective operation of the Wellness Centre
- Welcoming students to the Wellness Centre, directing students to appropriate resources, support for software used in clinical setting, organizing student information; supporting wellness programs and initiatives
- 3 days/week (minimum) dedicated to being physically present in the Wellness Centre
Preferred Skills and Attributes:
- Organized, administrative ability, strong attention to detail
- Experience using data management software and spreadsheets. Particular experience in using Google Suite, Excel, Google Forms, and Colleague would be an asset.
- Friendly, personable, able to collaborate with others well
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to coordinate and manage multiple details, projects and tasks
- Familiarity and experience with various social media platforms that can support activities, events, and program promotion
- Experience working in a university setting is an asset
Other Requirements:
- Understanding of Redeemer University (mission, values, and Reformed Christian identity)
Education/Training:
- Undergrad degree, college diploma or comparable combination of education and work experience
