Position Description

Rymal Road Community Church is hiring an acoustic guitar player or piano player to play and participate with our Sunday morning worship team.

This is a part-time job, six-hours a week. Team practice each Thursday from 2:30-4:00PM. Sunday morning participation with the worship team runs 9:00-11:30AM. The remaining two paid hours to be used for independent research, learning and practice.

Rymal Road Community Church belongs to the Free Methodist Church in Canada.

Our average Sunday morning attendance is 50-65 people with another 20-40 who join the streamed, on-line service. The majority of our family is older and retired.

The church is in a growing part of Hamilton, in a predominantly middle-class neighborhood with a lot of newcomers and first & second generation Canadians. There is no other evangelical church nearby.

The successful candidate will:

  • Be paid $30/hour for a six hour week.
  • Be paid every two-weeks.
  • This role does not provide benefits.
  • Begin as soon as possible.

You

  • Play an acoustic guitar or a piano.
  • Will sing as a part of our praise team.
  • Are willing to grow into this position and expand your weekly time if both companies agree things are a good fit.
  • Will make Rymal Road your Sunday morning place of worship (but you may certainly attend elsewhere too).
  • Can get to 1967 Rymal Road East for the required times (have transportation).
  • Will have a two-month probation period with us but plan to stay in this role until at least April 2027.
  • Will learn to lead in brief prayer and offer brief elements of direction as a part of our worship time.
  • Are a strategic part of our vision to put significant resources (prayer, finances, personnel) into the Sunday morning service.

We

  • Hope that this turns into something more - that this role evolves into more and more hours.
  • Will transition you into the praise team leader at your own pace.
  • Will support your training initiatives. For example, you want to attend a conference; you want to take a course; you want to involve someone as a musical/worship mentor.
  • Are concerned about rest, frame of mind and overall health and will support you when you need breaks and time away from the platform.
  • Are not looking to change the elements of worship we enjoy (our presentation) but are open to growth and timely transition. As you mature into the role your creative input will absolutely increase.

This posting will remain open until the position is filled. Submit your interest to pastor Scott at the email above.
