Position Description
Victoria Chinese Alliance Church is a trilingual (English, Cantonese and Mandarin) multigenerational church with about 200 members. This Church has been a member of the Christian & Missionary Alliance in Canada since its founding in 1975.
The Youth and Young Adult Ministry (Y&YA) plays a crucial role in the spiritual health of our congregation and in fulfilling God’s call through the Great Commission. This leadership position is responsible for developing English Y&YA programs and guiding our younger generation to become devoted disciples of Christ.
We are seeking a full-time or part-time Pastor in the Youth and Young Adult Ministry who can develop and implement a long-term vision for the church's youth and young adult ministries, with the goal of nurturing the next generation of Christ-followers. at Victoria Chinese Alliance Church.
Primary Responsibility
Youth (age 12 – 17) & Young Adults (age 18-24) Ministry
- Develop and lead weekly programs for discipleship and outreach for middle school and high school age students
- Inspire and encourage youth and young adults by exemplifying and promoting a Christ-centered lifestyle, fostering a deeper commitment to Christ's mission.
- Equip and empower young leaders while identifying and nurturing new leadership within the ministry.
- Provide spiritual leadership through preaching and teaching, helping youth and young adults grow in their understanding of God's Word.
- Partner with parents to actively engage them in their children's spiritual development.
- Assist in the development and implementation of systems and policies for the youth and young adult ministries, ensuring alignment with the church’s overall vision.
Other Duties
- Offer individual counselling and spiritual guidance to youth, providing support for their personal and faith-related challenges.
- Oversee and provide direct supervision to youth leaders, Sunday school teachers, and ministry staff, ensuring the effective operation of youth programs.
- Actively participate in staff meetings, one-on-one meetings with the Senior Pastor, Elder Board meetings, and other necessary gatherings to ensure the successful leadership of the youth and young adult ministry. Regular and special services of the church should also be attended as part of this role.
- Carry out additional responsibilities as assigned or requested by the Senior Pastor.
Qualifications
- Demonstrates gifts and calling to youth ministry.
- Holds a Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Christian Studies, Theology or a related field.
- 1 – 2 years of experience in children, youth and/or young adult ministries in a Canadian Christian context is an asset.
- Required to work on Sunday and certain weekday evenings.
- Fluent in both written and spoken English. The ability to speak in Cantonese / Mandarin is an asset.
- A criminal record check is required.
- Current First Aid certification is an asset.

- Proven ability to connect with youth, young adults and their families from diverse backgrounds, with a strong understanding of the unique challenges they face.
- Willing to submit to and align with the ministry philosophy of the Senior Pastor and Elder Board.
- A strong team player with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to handle conflict resolution competently.
