Holy Mountain Presbyterian Church, a member of the Korean American Presbyterian Church (KAPC), was founded in 1974 with a vision to be a healthy, balanced church that glorifies God through devotion to Christ’s Great Commandment and the Great Commission. We serve the Korean and English-speaking communities in Toronto and are proudly celebrating our 52nd anniversary this year.
We are currently seeking a part-time Assistant Pastor (27 hours/week) to work alongside our Senior Pastor. While the Senior Pastor leads the English Ministry (EM) through Sunday sermons, doctrinal studies, and leadership training, we are looking for a spiritual and organizational leader to oversee the Youth Ministry and EM administration.
Key Responsibilities
1. Youth Ministry Leadership & Oversight
- Preach weekly at Sunday youth services.
- Partner with parents and teachers to disciple youth effectively.
- Engage students consistently with the Good News of the Gospel.
- Facilitate weekly Bible studies, discussions, and prayer meetings.
- Oversee biblical curriculum coordination and development under the direction of the Senior Pastor.
- Cultivate a fun, safe, and welcoming environment where youth can grow in their relationships with others and with Jesus.
- Recruit, manage, and equip youth ministry volunteers, fostering an awareness of pastoral care and discipleship needs.
- Coordinate additional activities, including youth retreats and short-term mission trips.
2. English Ministry (EM) Administration
- Oversee worship ministry for the English-speaking congregation.
- Collaborate prayerfully with pastors, the praise team, and volunteers to select songs, prayers, and readings for each service.
- Ensure the accuracy and availability of presentation materials (PowerPoint) and online services.
- Manage multiple projects with high attention to detail, responsiveness, and creative thinking.
- Organize regular EM events in collaboration with volunteers.
- Recruit and support volunteers by providing necessary resources and communication.
- Attend all required staff meetings, weekend services, and joint KM/EM events.
- Assist the Senior Pastor in nurturing missional ministries through community engagement and short-term mission trips.
Minimum Qualifications
- A mature and growing relationship with Jesus Christ with a heart for the local church.
- Full alignment with the core values and teachings of Holy Mountain Presbyterian Church.
- Currently enrolled in or a graduate of a recognized theological seminary (M.Div. required).
- Fluency in English (Bilingual in Korean is an asset).
- Canadian citizenship, permanent residency, or legal eligibility to work in Canada.
- Proven leadership, maturity, and strong teamwork skills.
