BFM Foundation Canada is a national Christian organization with over 50 Mission Thrift Stores across the country. The net revenue from all Mission Thrift Stores is devoted to the Joint Ministry of BFM Foundation Canada and Bible League Canada (BLC). These funds are used to establish adult and children’s literacy programs, church planter training, and distribute Bibles in many places around the world. The stores are operated primarily by dedicated volunteers.

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
Mission Thrift Store Brantford is a faith-based non-profit thrift store seeking a part-time Production Associate to support the day-to-day operations of our Apparel department.
This position plays a vital role in supporting the day-to-day operations of Mission Thrift Store Brantford by ensuring the efficient sorting, processing, merchandising, and flow of donated apparel and related goods from the Receiving and Production areas through to the sales floor. This role is primarily focused on Apparel, but includes responsibilities related to receiving, tagging, organizing, displaying, and replenishing clothing merchandise in accordance with store standards. Through careful processing and presentation of donated goods, this team member helps create a clean, organized, welcoming, and visually appealing retail environment that serves with excellence. This role works collaboratively with staff and volunteers to meet operational goals, support customer service initiatives, and contribute positively to a fast-paced thrift retail environment.
This team member will be cross-trained and may be assigned to support other Production functions, as well as Receiving operations, sales floor support, cashiering, merchandising, and other store operational needs as required. Strong customer service skills, adaptability, and a consistently friendly, professional, and collaborative approach will be imperative to success in this role while interacting with donors, customers, volunteers, and staff, reflecting the values and mission of the organization.
The Production Associate (Apparel) reports to the Production Supervisor.

HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE
- Sort, organize, tag, and prepare apparel merchandise according to store standards.
- Receive, unload, and process donated goods in the Receiving and Production areas.
- Support merchandise flow, inventory rotation, replenishment, and stock organization.
- Price apparel and related merchandise according to store guidelines.
- Assist with merchandising and display setup for seasonal and promotional initiatives.
- Maintain clean, organized, and visually appealing apparel displays and sales areas.
- Support additional Production and retail functions throughout the store as required.
- Adapt to changing operational priorities and assist in other departments when needed.
- Greet and assist customers and donors in a friendly and professional manner.
- Support cashiering and Point-of-Sale operations as assigned.
- Work collaboratively with staff and volunteers to support efficient store operations.
- Consistently follow all store safety, housekeeping, and operational procedures, including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when required.
- Participate in team meetings, huddles, special projects, and additional responsibilities as assigned.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred.
- 1+ years of previous experience in retail, merchandising, customer service, apparel, thrift, or inventory-related environments is preferred.
- Knowledge of cash registers and POS systems is considered an asset.
- Basic computer literacy (including Microsoft Office 365) is considered an asset.
- Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work safely and efficiently within a fast-paced retail and production environment.
- Ability to learn merchandising standards and operational retail procedures quickly.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and operational needs (including duties and departments outside of Production/Apparel).
- Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team environment.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and see them through to completion.
- Strong time management skills and demonstrated reliability.
- Solid problem-solving and analytical thinking abilities.
WORKING CONDITIONS

- This job is performed mostly indoors in a thrift store retail setting.
- Extensive work interfacing with people.

- Combination of natural light and fluorescent/LED lighting.
- Handling donated goods, including items that may occasionally be dusty, worn, odorous, or otherwise in poor condition.
- PPE and training will be provided where appropriate.
- Frequent standing, walking, reaching, bending, and crouching/squatting to the floor.
- Lifting, carrying, pulling, and pushing goods weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule that includes Saturdays and evenings.
COMPENSATION EXPECTATIONS
$18.00 per hour.
