The Olive Branch Community Church is a Christ-centered congregation in Markham. We are in a healthy and hopeful season of ministry, with an average Sunday attendance of 250 and growing ministries in areas such as next gen, young adults, and discipleship. The Facilities Manager provides oversight of the day-to-day functioning of The Olive Branch Community Church, ensuring the church facility and operational systems effectively support ministry life. This role is responsible for the care and maintenance of the building, including coordination of janitorial services, general upkeep, and proactive facility management to ensure a safe, clean, and ministry-ready environment. It also oversees scheduling practices, room usage, and operational coordination across ministries and events, helping ensure clarity, consistency and smooth execution throughout the week and on Sundays. In addition, the Operations Manager maintains timely reporting and supports efficient systems that strengthen overall ministry effectiveness, allowing church life to function with order, excellence and reliability behind the scenes. 

Roles & Responsibilities:  

  • Responsible for the regular cleaning, upkeep, and presentation of the church facility, ensuring all spaces are maintained to a high standard of cleanliness, safety and readiness for ministry use. 
  • Includes routine janitorial duties, restocking supplies and addressing minor maintenance needs to support a clean, welcoming and well-functioning environment for all church activities. 
  • Responsible for the setup and teardown of chairs, tables and equipment for services, events and rentals, ensuring all spaces are arranged according to approved layouts and ministry needs. 
  • Includes coordinating room resets between uses and supporting external rentals by preparing spaces that are clean, organized and ready for safe and effective use. 
  • Strategic Planning: Aligning operational and financial logistics with the church's vision and mission. 
  • Manage seasonal facility contracts. 
  • Oversee planning and scheduling of major facility projects such as parking lot maintenance and repairs. 
  • Coordinate annual compliance tasks including fire/alarm inspections. 
  • Review, track and update all recurring operational service contracts (e.g., cleaning, waste, utilities, vendors, etc.) annually. 
  • Strategic Planning: Aligning operational logistics with the church's vision and mission. 
  • Participate in Financial Team meetings.  
  • Support preparation of annual facilities budgets in collaboration with leadership. 
  • Assist in insurance renewal process, ensuring timely review and completion of documentation. 

Qualifications & Expectations:  

  • 2+ years' experience in building/janitorial maintenance 
  • Strong proficiency in office software (MS suite, Planning center)  
  • Strong leadership skills with experience in building and inspiring volunteer teams 
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and conflict-resolution abilities  
  • Proven ability to equip and empower leaders, build relationships and network effectively    
  • Strong Christian faith, exemplifying a life transformed by Jesus Christ  
  • A deep knowledge of Scripture and how to apply it to real-life situations  
  • Passion and enthusiasm for the mission of The Olive Branch  
  • Supportive and championing The Olive Branch's statement of faith, vision, core value and staff code of conduct 

 Other Details:  

  • Full-time, salaried position 
  • $55,000–$62,000, based on experience 
  • Great benefits package
