Position Description
PIBC is seeking a part-time Assistant Pastor to work closely with the Senior Pastor and collaborate with the ministry team leaders to fulfill the church’s God-given mission. This position requires 20 hours per week and reports directly to the Senior Pastor. The two-fold responsibility of the part-time Assistant Pastor is: (1) to provide visionary leadership and spiritual oversight of the youth ministry of the church, and (2) to assist the Senior Pastor as appropriate and mutually agreed.
Qualifications and Skills
- A graduate of a reputable Bible College or Seminary, major in Bible or Theology
- A grounded Christ-follower of good reputation, with a clear sense of pastoral call
- A passion for youth and their families to grow in faith and become disciples
- Two years of experience in organizing and leading youth ministries
- Two years of experience in developing small groups and training small group leaders
- Strong interpersonal skills, able to counsel, a good listener, and communicate well
- A self-starter; able to create, plan, and implement youth ministries
- A team player; supportive of the leadership and the ministries of the church
- Able to develop a sermon and preach once a month
- Available every Sunday is preferred, or two Sundays a month minimum required
- Available every Wednesday for a prayer meeting is preferred, or two Wednesdays a month minimum required
- Playing an instrument is an asset
- A vulnerable sector check will be required
Responsibilities
Visionary leadership and spiritual oversight of PIBC youth ministry (60%)
- Evaluate the existing youth ministry of PIBC
- Around 20 youth (high schoolers/aged 12-16)
- Around 15 College & Careers/C&C (aged 17-above)
- Develop or enhance the goals and objectives of youth ministry in alignment with the overall goals and objectives of the Senior Pastor for the church
- Implement the discipleship strategy of the church
- Incorporate the existing youth ministries if they fit with the goals/objectives
- Annual retreat
- Annual short mission trips
- Alternate Tuesday discipleship (Youth 2x a month, C&C 2x a month)
- Friday gym nights (Youth 6-8 pm, C&C 8-10 pm). Lead or assign Bible study leaders/facilitators
- Develop new activities
- Outreach activities
- Mentoring and discipleship activities
- Leadership development activities
Assist the Senior Pastor as appropriate and mutually agreed (40%)
- Preach at the Sunday service once a month
- Lead a devotion in a prayer meeting once a month
- Support the outreach and mission program of the church
- Tagalog worship service
- Church planting
- Cover the Senior Pastor when sick, on vacation, or as needed
- Others
Compensation and Benefits
- $20/hr × 20hrs/wk = $1,600/mo
- Annual travel allowance: $1,800
