Join the Camp Sagitawa Team

Camp Sagitawa is a Christian camp community located on beautiful Moberly Lake in northern BC. We exist to care for people and connect them with Christ through meaningful relationships, outdoor experiences, and programs that encourage personal growth and faith.

We’re looking for a Food Service Manager who enjoys cooking for groups, leading a team with care, and creating a welcoming environment where campers, guests, staff, and volunteers feel valued and nourished.

This role is ideal for someone who loves hospitality, thrives in a team environment, and wants their work to have a positive impact on others.

What You’ll Be Doing

As Food Service Manager, you’ll oversee the day-to-day operation of our commercial kitchen and dining services throughout the year. You’ll help ensure meals are safe, organized, enjoyable, and served with excellence for camps and guest groups.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and prepare menus for camps and retreat groups
  • Order food and kitchen supplies
  • Lead and support kitchen staff and volunteers
  • Maintain Food Safe, HACCP, and Ministry of Health standards
  • Help create a positive, encouraging kitchen culture
  • Organize staff schedules during camp season
  • Communicate with families and guests regarding dietary needs
  • Maintain kitchen procedures, records, and food safety practices
  • Assist with budgeting and kitchen planning alongside the Director
  • Coordinate kitchen maintenance needs with the maintenance team
  • Participate in staff prayer times and contribute to the spiritual life of camp

Seasonal Focus

During Camp Season:

  • Train and support seasonal kitchen staff and volunteers
  • Work closely with program staff to coordinate meals and camp schedules
  • Help create a fun, supportive environment for staff and campers

During the Off-Season:

  • Deep clean and organize kitchen facilities and equipment
  • Complete food and equipment inventories
  • Support and mentor volunteers and interns

What We’re Looking For

You don’t need to meet every qualification perfectly to apply. We value people who are teachable, dependable, organized, and passionate about serving others through food and hospitality.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Experience working in a commercial or large-group kitchen
  • A love of cooking and serving people well
  • Experience leading or supervising staff and/or volunteers
  • Food Safe Level 2 certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • First Aid Level 1 an asset
  • Experience accommodating food allergies and dietary needs
  • Comfortable cooking for groups ranging from 20–120 people
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Basic computer skills and willingness to learn online ordering systems
  • Experience working with youth or camp settings is an asset

Faith & Community

Because Camp Sagitawa is a Christian ministry, applicants should:

  • Have a personal Christian faith and a growing relationship with Jesus Christ
  • Support Camp Sagitawa’s Statement of Faith, Mission, Vision, and Values
  • Be comfortable participating in prayer, devotions, and mentorship of seasonal staff

Work Environment

This is a hands-on kitchen leadership role in a fast-paced camp environment. Summer months are busier and may involve longer shifts, balanced by a lighter schedule during the off-season to average approximately 40 hours per week over the year.

What We Offer

  • On-site housing and utilities provided — no commute required
  • Paid vacation time, including time off at Christmas, Easter, and Thanksgiving
  • Complimentary meals for you and your family when guest meals are being served
  • Access to camp recreational equipment when available
  • Opportunity to live and work in a beautiful lakeside setting while serving in meaningful ministry

Interested?

We’d love to hear from people who are excited about hospitality, community, and ministry through camp life. If you enjoy feeding people, leading with kindness, and being part of a mission-driven team, we encourage you to apply by emailing a cover letter and resume to office@campsagitawa.ca
