Co-Vocational Pastor
Co-Vocational Pastor
Richmond Hill, Ontario , L4C 5T3
Position Description
Mosaic BIC Community Church is a warm, ethnically diverse congregation of approximately 21 families meeting in the heart of Richmond Hill. Rooted in the Anabaptist and Jesus-centred values of the Be In Christ Church of Canada (BIC), we are committed to building authentic community, growing disciples of Jesus, and serving our neighbourhood. We rent a space out of the Community Church of Richmond Hill (CRC), with whom we have a close partnership and collaborate on joint ministry teams (e.g., blended worship teams and kids/youth ministry teams).
We are seeking a co-vocational Pastor who loves Jesus and is passionate about discipleship, pastoral care, and helping a small church discern and pursue God’s vision for its future.
We sense God leading us into a season of renewal and growth and are looking for a pastor who can provide spiritual leadership while equipping and empowering others to serve.
This position is approximately 10–15 hours per week (negotiable), with the potential for growth as the congregation develops.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide pastoral care, encouragement, and spiritual support to congregants.
- Foster discipleship and spiritual growth within the church community.
- Solidify and chart a vision for the future of our community, including a collective vision with CRC.
- Lead or facilitate a small group and support lay leaders in discipleship ministries.
- Equip and encourage volunteers and ministry leaders.
- Collaborate with church leadership to clarify and implement vision, mission, and ministry priorities.
- Provide occasional teaching and pastoral leadership during worship gatherings.
- Support prayer ministry and congregational care initiatives.
- Encourage meaningful engagement with the local community and outreach opportunities.
- Build and maintain collaborative relationships with Community Church of Richmond Hill and other ministry partners.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will:
- Demonstrate a vibrant and growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
- Affirm the Articles of Faith and Doctrine of the Be In Christ Church of Canada and be willing to pursue BIC credentialing.
- Possess theological training (Bible college or seminary degree preferred).
- Have experience in pastoral leadership, discipleship, gospel-centered outreach, and shepherding people.
- Communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Relate well to people from diverse cultural backgrounds and life experiences.
- Model servant leadership, integrity, peacemaking, and reconciliation.
- Be gifted in listening, encouraging others, and navigating difficult conversations with wisdom and grace.
- Be legally eligible to work in a long term (indefinite) capacity and in compliance with the Ontario ESA.
- Preference will be given to candidates who live in or near the Richmond Hill area and who are excited about serving in a co-vocational ministry context.
