Position Description

Overview

Empowered by the Holy Spirit, this Pastor will work with our church to minister to the Youth in and around our church plus maintain our focus on missions locally and globally.  They will join a ministry team of 5 other staff and join in the ministry of encouraging and equipping the church under the leadership of the Lead Pastor.

Type: Salaried Full Time
Hours: 40 hours per week
Location: Lethbridge, Alberta
Travel: Some travel expected: maximum 4 weeks annually.
Work model: In person with some flexibility of schedule and home-office time.
Salary range: $58 – 70k annually (actual compensation based on education and experience).
Vacation: 3 weeks per year + Quarterlies (1 Sunday off per calendar quarter)
Start date: Approx. October 1, 2026 - however an exact date will be part of discussions.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated current testimony of a relationship with God through Jesus Christ.
  • Spiritual maturity that is based on Biblical knowledge and prayer and confirmed by a godly home life, a love of all peoples, and humility in service to others.
  • Theological conviction consistent with the Statement of Faith of Lethbridge First Baptist Church.
  • Theological training and ministry experience: for example, an MDiv and some years of pastoral experience would be a great combination.
  • Committed to the vision and values of our church, including a commitment to prayer, Scripture, the church body, and the surrounding community.
  • Eligible for membership with Lethbridge First Baptist Church.
  • Willing to minister under the church constitution and bylaws.
  • Proven ability to work as a member of a team.
  • Skills/Gifts in shepherding, organization, volunteer management, and networking.
  • Communicates effectively, and is comfortable speaking to volunteers, parents, and kids of all ages.
  • Already located in Canada and legally able to work in Canada.
  • Clear Police Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search included.
  • Local knowledge of Lethbridge is an asset.
  • Additional languages beyond English are also an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Attend staff meetings and maintain solid communications with staff members
  • Sunday Worship Services:
  • Assist in structuring services and lead elements as agreed upon in planning
  • Plan and execute ministry for youth (Jr. and Sr. Highschool):
    • Invest in the Spiritual development of youth thru theological training, relationship building and opportunities for service.
    • Build and maintain a healthy team of youth leaders.
    • Oversee weekly youth nights (9-10 months of the year).
    • Connect youth to service opportunities inside and outside the church.
    • Involvement with Sunday School: Jr. High (grades 5-7) classes, Youth serving, relationship building with upcoming youth.
  • Support community engagement & missions initiatives:
    • Help our church maintain its emphasis on community involvement and broader missions work including acts of service, social justice and outreach.
  • Programs may shift and change, currently our church is involved in many ways including:
    • Drop-in Wednesdays
    • Local school engagement
    • Soup Kitchen
    • Games nights
    • Summer camps
    • Missionary supports and communications
    • Community events
  • Other:
    • Prepare a monthly report to Church Council.
    • Invest in church life through visitation and attending services and events.
    • Prepare a budget for ministry activities.
    • Maintain consistent office hours to overlap with team members.
    • Assist with Sunday School supervision as needed.
    • Other responsibilities as assigned by the Lead Pastor.
