Position Description

Position Summary

The Youth & Young Adults Pastor is a dual-role position responsible for the leadership, health, and growth of Youth (Grades 6–12) and Young Adults ministries at RockPointe Church (RPC). This role prioritizes Youth Ministry while ensuring strong development pathways into Young Adults and adult life within the church. This leader will champion environments where students and young adults encounter Jesus, build authentic community, and are equipped to live missionally.

The Youth & Young Adults Pastor will be responsible for:

1. Modeling Biblical Priorities

Responsible for upholding Biblical priorities and core values of RPC. The YAP should represent a growing personal relationship with Christ. The YAP models a strong relationship with his or her spouse (if married) and children (if applicable).

The YAP strives to fulfill their purpose in life and ministry while demonstrating integrity in words, relationships and actions.

This is accomplished by:

  • Committing to a daily quiet-time with God.
  • Setting appropriate boundaries to protect character and integrity.
  • Developing personal evangelism opportunities within and outside the church.
  • Supporting the ministries of RockPointe Church by faithful financial giving.
  • Adhering to and encompassing the qualities and characteristics required of RockPointe Church employees, as defined by the Staff Handbook.

2. Youth Ministry – 65%

Responsible for the overall vision, strategy, and leadership for Youth Ministry at RPC. As well as the well-being and forward movement of the ministry in alignment with RPC’s Purpose, Strategy and Vision.

This is accomplished by:

  • Plan and execute weekly gatherings, events, retreats, and camps
  • Create engaging, relevant teaching environments centered on Scripture and discipleship
  • Build and lead volunteer teams
  • Develop systems for student connection and engagement
  • Establish communication with parents and families
  • Ensure safety policies are upheld
  • Track participation and growth metrics
  • Collaborate with Site Teams

3. Youth Adults Ministry – 20%

Responsible for all details related to the Young Adults Ministry at RPC, as well as the well-being and forward movement of the ministry in alignment with RPC’s Purpose, Strategy & Vision.

This is accomplished by:

  • Lead or oversee weekly/bi-weekly young adults gatherings (teaching, worship, discussion, community building events)
  • Develop and execute ministry strategy for Young Adults
  • Create environments for connection and growth
  • Recruit, train and develop leadership teams
  • Provide pastoral care
  • Integrate young adults into church life
  • Champion missional living

4. Next Gen Pipeline & Transitions – 10%

Responsible for building a cohesive Next Gen strategy and oversight of critical Next Gen ministry transitions that ensure RPC Next Gen feel welcomed, invited and clearly understand their next steps.

This is accomplished by:

  • Spearheading collaboration with Children’s Ministries, ensuring periodic reviews, discussion and planning in this area.
  • Alongside these ministries, creating a pipeline strategy for seamless transitions from one age demographic to the next at all sites.
  • Exploring, developing and implementing a strategy for Young Adults inclusion into adult life, rhythms and ministry at RPC. 
  • Develop, in collaboration with the Children’s Ministry transition points (Grade 5 → Youth, Grade 12 → Young Adults)
  • Ensure continuity in discipleship and belonging

5. Pastoral Duties – 5%

Responsible for being available to support and participate in various pastoral duties when called upon. This is accomplished by:

  • Participate in the preaching and spiritual formation ministries of the church
  • Participate in the community life of the church in ways that reflect commitment and investment (eg. Small group, prayer meetings, larger gatherings etc)
  • Provide pastoral care and counsel to staff, leaders, and congregants
  • Officiate wedding and funeral ceremonies as appropriate
  • Participate in RPC team training, events and various development initiatives
