Pastor of Youth and Family Discipleship

Pastor of Youth and Family Discipleship

Company: CBC Ilderton
Location/Address:
100 Meadowcreek Dr
Ilderton, Ontario
Phone: 519-666-3049

Position Description

Position Type: Full-Time Pastoral
Salary Range: 60–90K
Benefits: Included.
Professional Development: Annual budget for books, conferences, continuing education.

Mission Statement

To joyfully shepherd the next generation and their families by fostering a culture of deep discipleship, robust biblical teaching, and full integration into the life of the local church. We are looking for a pastor-elder who will move beyond attractional programming to build a chronologically rich ministry—one where students are treated as vital members of the body, and parents are championed as the primary disciple-makers in the home.

Core Responsibilities

1. Pastoral Leadership & Preaching

  • Elder Team Integration: As a member of the Elder Team, you will participate in the overall shepherding of the congregation, contributing to the spiritual direction, prayer, and oversight of the entire church body.
  • Pulpit Ministry: Demonstrate the ability to preach the Word of God with clarity and conviction. You will be called upon to preach in the main corporate gatherings approximately 12 times per year, ensuring the youth and the broader congregation hear a consistent, unified voice from the Scriptures.
  • Biblical Counselling: Provide gospel-centered care for students and parents navigating the unique challenges of the adolescent years, walking alongside families in both crisis and celebration.

2. Robust Theological Discipleship

  • Expositional Teaching: Prioritize substantial, verse-by-verse Bible teaching that challenges students' minds and stirs their hearts, preparing them for a lifetime of faithfulness.
  • Culture of Discipling: Intentionally build bridges between the youth and the broader church. You will foster an environment where it is normal for adults of all ages to take initiative in the spiritual good of our youth.
  • Church Integration: You will encourage youth to be active participants in corporate worship, evangelism, prayer meetings, and the daily life of the church family.

3. Equipping the Home (Family Partnership)

  • Parental Empowerment: View the youth ministry as a support system for the home. You will actively equip parents—the primary spiritual leaders—with resources, training, and encouragement to lead family worship and discipleship.
  • Strategic Collaboration: Maintain an open, encouraging dialogue with fathers and mothers, ensuring that youth programming complements family life rather than competing with it.
  • Children’s Education: Provide oversight and leadership to all aspects of Sunday morning children’s education, including curriculum and volunteers.

Candidate Qualifications

  • Elder Qualified: Must meet the biblical requirements of 1 Timothy 3:1–7 and Titus 1:5–9. This includes being a man of integrity, sober-minded, hospitable, and "able to teach."
  • Seasoned Maturity: The successful candidate will ideally be over 30 years of age and possess the life experience and spiritual maturity required to lead families and serve on an Elder Team.
  • Preaching Competence: A proven ability to handle the Word of God accurately and communicate it effectively to both teens and the general congregation.
  • Counselling & Education Assets: While not strictly required, a certification in Biblical Counselling (e.g. ABC, ACBC, CCEF) is considered a significant asset.
  • Additionally, a degree from Heritage College & Seminary would be a valued asset for this role.

The Vision of Success

We believe success is found in a church that prays together for its youth. We are looking for a brother who will join us in building a "culture of discipling" where:

  • Students see themselves as part of the whole church, not a separate subculture.
  • Parents feel energized and supported in their calling to disciple their children.
  • The Word is the centrepiece of every gathering, producing spiritual fruit that lasts long after high school graduation.

This role is designed for a man who is a "pastor first," whose specific focus will be youth and families. By serving on the Elder Team, he ensures that the next generation is never siloed, but remains at the heart of the church's mission.

How to Apply

We invite qualified men who share this vision for youth and family discipleship to submit their application materials for review. Please provide the following:

  • Current Resume/CV: Detailing your ministry experience, education, and relevant life history.
  • Philosophy of Ministry: A brief (1–2 page) statement outlining your biblical convictions regarding youth ministry, parent partnership, and church integration.
  • Teaching Sample: A link to a video or audio recording of a recent sermon or teaching session.
  • Personal Testimony: A short summary of your conversion and call to ministry.

Please submit all materials via email to elders@cbcilderton.ca with the subject line "Pastor of Youth and Family Discipleship Application."
