Job Title: Facilities Coordinator
Reports to: Director of Operations
Hours: 15–18 hours per week (Sundays from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Hours may be adjusted for special events.)
Compensation: $21.00–$24.00 per hour, based on qualifications and experience.

Summit Community Church (SCC) is seeking a Part-Time Facilities Coordinator to join our Operations Team. The Facilities Coordinator is responsible for maintaining Summit Community Church's buildings and grounds in a safe, clean, welcoming, and well-functioning condition. This role performs routine maintenance and repairs, coordinates vendors and contractors, assists with facility set-up for ministries and events, and helps ensure the property is ready to support the mission and ministry of Summit Community Church.
What You’ll Do
This position includes, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities:
- Coordinate with external vendors and contractors for the inspection, maintenance, repair, and servicing of church facilities and property, including housekeeping, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, security systems, pest control, landscaping, snow removal, vehicles, and other building systems.
- Maintain facility records related to vendors, equipment, warranties, maintenance schedules, repair history, supplies, and facility projects.
- Prepare church facilities for worship services, ministries, and special events, ensuring spaces are clean, safe, and ready for use.
- Perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs to the building, grounds, equipment, and church-owned vehicles. Coordinate contractors for major repairs.
- Perform general building maintenance, including basic carpentry, painting, drywall repairs, replacing light bulbs, changing furnace filters, maintaining the water softener, and completing other routine maintenance tasks as required.
- Monitor inventory levels of maintenance supplies, cleaning products, hospitality supplies, tools, equipment, and spare parts. Notify the Administrative Assistant when replenishment is required and assist with receiving, organizing, and storing supplies.
- Assist in maintaining a safe, secure, and compliant facility by working with regulatory agencies, service providers, and contractors to ensure building systems meet applicable health, safety, fire, and building code requirements.
- Maintain the church grounds and exterior property, ensuring parking lots, sidewalks, entrances, landscaped areas, and outdoor spaces are clean, safe, and well-maintained throughout the year.
- Coordinate facility-related services for special ministry needs, including baptisms, conferences, camps, and other church events.
- Oversee waste management, including the regular collection and disposal of garbage and recycling, as well as coordinating the removal of large items and hazardous waste as required.
- Maintain the general appearance and organization of the church, ensuring storage areas, maintenance rooms, and common spaces remain clean, organized, and functional.
- Perform Sunday facility responsibilities, including opening the building, conducting a facility readiness inspection, responding to facility-related issues during services, and securing the building following the completion of Sunday activities.
- Recommend improvements that enhance the safety, functionality, efficiency, and appearance of the church facilities and property.
- Attend staff meetings and other meetings as required.
Position Requirements
- Experience in general building maintenance, facility operations, or a related trade.
- Demonstrated ability to perform basic maintenance and repair work, including carpentry, painting, minor plumbing, and general building repairs.
- Working knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems, with the ability to identify issues and coordinate qualified contractors when required.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and work independently.
- Physically capable of performing the duties of the position, including lifting, climbing ladders, operating maintenance equipment, and working both indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively with staff, volunteers, contractors, and ministry leaders.
- Previous experience in facilities maintenance or property management is considered an asset.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
- A valid Ontario driver's licence is an asset.
