Job Title: Facilities Coordinator
Reports to: Director of Operations
Hours: 15–18 hours per week (Sundays from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Hours may be adjusted for special events.)
Compensation: $21.00–$24.00 per hour, based on qualifications and experience.
Vacation Pay: Paid out bi-weekly as it accrues

Summit Community Church (SCC) is seeking a Part-Time Facilities Coordinator to join our Operations Team. We are looking for a practical, dependable person who enjoys hands-on work and helping things run smoothly behind the scenes.

This role helps ensure our buildings and ministry spaces are safe, clean, organized, and ready for Sunday services, ministry programs, and special events. The position focuses primarily on room setup, light maintenance, minor repairs, and routine property care. Most specialized maintenance and major repairs are completed by outside contractors.

What You’ll Do

This position includes, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities:

Facility & Event Setup

  • Set up and reset chairs, tables, and rooms for Sunday services, ministry programs, and special events.
  • Ensure ministry spaces are clean, safe, organized, and ready before scheduled activities.
  • Assist with occasional event setup and takedown during the week or on weekends.
  • Help keep storage areas and shared spaces organized, and assist with limited cleaning tasks such as sweeping and mopping the sanctuary floors as needed.

Light Maintenance & Repairs

  • Perform minor repairs and general handyman tasks, including basic carpentry, painting, and simple building repairs.
  • Complete routine maintenance such as changing furnace filters and batteries, replacing light bulbs, and replenishing water softener salt as required.
  • Assist with seasonal tasks such as winterizing outdoor water lines and putting up or taking down seasonal recreational equipment.
  • Identify maintenance concerns and report items that require professional repair or servicing.

Property Care & Safety

  • Help keep entrances, walkways, parking areas, and ministry spaces safe and accessible.
  • Salt walkways when required and assist with basic seasonal property care.
  • Monitor general building and property conditions and complete routine checks of facility equipment.
  • Help ensure the facility remains safe, welcoming, and ready for ministry use.

Contractor & Service Support

  • Provide access to contractors and service providers when required.
  • Assist with scheduling or coordinating routine service appointments and communicate facility concerns to the Director of Operations.
  • Help monitor work completed by service providers.

Sunday Responsibilities

  • Help prepare the building for Sunday worship, including room setup and a general readiness check.
  • Respond to minor facility needs that arise during Sunday activities.
  • Assist with resetting spaces and securing the building following Sunday activities as required.

Position Requirements

  • General handyman, maintenance, facilities, custodial, or related practical experience is an asset.
  • Comfortable using basic tools and completing minor repairs and routine maintenance tasks.
  • Dependable, organized, self-motivated, and able to work independently.
  • Able to notice when something needs attention, take initiative, and know when to involve a qualified contractor.
  • Physically capable of moving chairs, tables, and equipment; using ladders; and working both indoors and outdoors as needed.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively with staff, volunteers, contractors, and ministry leaders.
  • Flexible and willing to assist with a variety of practical tasks as ministry needs arise.
  • Access to reliable transportation; a valid Ontario driver’s licence is an asset.
  • An intentional follower of Jesus Christ who supports and aligns with Summit Community Church’s vision, mission, values, and statement of faith.
  • Formal technical certification is not required.
