Position Description
Regeneration Outreach Community is a community of caring persons who, as an expression of Christian love in action, are continually striving to provide dignity to the lives of all those in need. We operate seven days a week, bringing healing, personal growth and spiritual awareness to those in need within a safe and caring environment. Our work at Regeneration “begins where the guest is” by working to assess the areas of need, and to develop, implement and to facilitate groups. The role will focus on relationship building - beginning with our guests and volunteers, and also within the professional community, to promote and inform about Regeneration and the services provided.
A Community Service Worker will demonstrate empathy, resourcefulness, and professional boundaries. They will have strong advocacy and communication skills. A successful candidate will see the importance of teamwork and collaboration. This person will reflect our core values of Love, Integrity, Hope and Hospitality in all aspects of their role.
Job Responsibilities
- Oversee front-desk check-ins, registration, maintain accurate guest records, and manage guest flow
- Ensure safety of all guests, volunteers and staff by holding people accountable and ensuring our rule boundaries are being followed
- Serve guests at Marketplace with a friendly, courteous and positive demeanor while providing a safe and welcoming space for guests and volunteers
- Provide support to guests with system navigation and referrals when needed
- Work through crisis situations with guests
- Develop and maintain partnerships with community agencies to provide wraparound supports within the Marketplace
- Collaborate with internal teams to identify barriers and improve guest experience
- Follow all health and safety practices while working at the Marketplace
- Work with volunteers and provide organizational knowledge to volunteers while safely working at Marketplace
- Assist in keeping the Marketplace clean and organized
- Receive and record food donations when necessary
- Stock shelves when necessary
- Communicate effectively with team members and volunteers
- Participate in team meetings, community planning sessions, and training as required
- Maintain and model appropriate personal boundaries with guests and volunteers and refrain from involvement with the personal affairs of guests or other business that may constitute a conflict of interest
- Maintain positive relationships with service providers, guests, volunteers, staff and supporters
- Provide support at Meal Program location as required.
- In collaboration with management, mentor and support placement students
- Represent Regeneration when required (i.e. presentations, booths, etc.)
- Collect Stories
- Other duties as required
Requirements and Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Social Service field
- Experience working with individuals facing poverty, homelessness, or food insecurity
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
- Knowledge of the Brampton community and social service landscape is an asset
- Understanding of the complexities of addiction and/or mental illness
- Crisis Intervention and de-escalation training is an asset
- CPR/First Aid Training is an asset
- Effective time-management skills
- Current Vulnerable Sector Check
