Position Description

Director of Young Adults (Maternity Leave)

Think about the young adults you know — the ones figuring out their first apartment, their first real job, what they actually believe now that no one's making them go to church. That in-between season is one of the most formative of a person's life, and it's also one of the easiest to walk through alone. We're looking for someone who wants to make sure they don't have to.

For the next 18 months, while our Director of Young Adults and Communications is on maternity leave, we're splitting her role into two so each half has a leader who's fully present. This invitation is for the Young Adults half — and if you've ever felt a pull toward this age and stage, we'd love for you to picture yourself in it.

The Opportunity

You'd be the person building and leading a ministry plan for Young Adults at Forward Church — university and college students through twentysomethings — helping them find their place in the life and discipleship framework of our church. It's a part-time role, roughly 10 to 15 hours a week, and you'd report directly to the Lead Pastor who oversees discipleship.

The role will begin in late October and run through early May 2028.

What This Could Look Like

  • Dreaming up and running an annual ministry plan that actually fits where our young adults are at.
  • Finding, training, and cheering on volunteer leaders.
  • Sitting with someone in a hard season and offering real care and spiritual guidance.
  • Teaching a class, or handing the mic to someone else who should.
  • Helping young adults find their next step into the wider life of the church, not just this one ministry.
  • Managing a modest annual budget with care.
  • Trading ideas with other ministry leaders, especially around helping young people transition well into adult life in the church.

Is This You?

  • You have a deep desire to see Young Adults walking closely with Jesus.
  • Something in you comes alive around people figuring out their twenties.
  • You can support in belief and practice our Articles of Faith and Lifestyle Statement.
  • You can teach — or you know exactly who to hand a lesson to.
  • You've led volunteers before, or you have the instinct for it: seeing people's gifts before they do.
  • You can be trusted with confidential, sensitive conversations.

Let's Talk

If you read this and thought, "that could be me," we'd genuinely love to hear from you — even if you're still not sure. Send your resume and a few lines about why this stirred something in you to kirkg@forwardchurch.ca

Not ready to apply yet but curious? Reach out anyway. We're happy to talk it through, no pressure.
