Director of Communications (Maternity Leave)
Director of Communications (Maternity Leave)
Cambridge, Ontario , N1R 5S2
Position Description
Every week, someone decides whether to visit Forward Church, sign up for a class, or take a next step in their faith — often based on nothing more than a post, an email, or a slide before service. That's not a small thing. It's a first impression, and sometimes it's the nudge someone needed.
We're looking for the person who shapes those moments. For the next 18 months, while our Director of Young Adults and Communications is on maternity leave, we're splitting her role into two so each half gets a leader who's fully present for it. This invitation is for the Communications half — and if words, design, and story are how you're wired, keep reading.
The Opportunity
You'd shape how all of Forward Church communicates — helping people outside our walls take a first step toward Jesus, and helping people already here take their next one. It's a part-time role, roughly 20 to 25 hours a week, and you'd report directly to the Lead Pastor who oversees Operations.
The role will begin in late October and run through early May, 2028.
What This Could Look Like
- Building a communications and marketing plan that actually sounds and feels like Forward.
- Shaping what people see and hear about our services, our training, and our discipleship — the content, the graphics, the video.
- Running our social media with a real voice: design, engaging posts, ads, and genuinely welcoming new followers who show up in the comments and DMs.
- Designing emails people actually want to open, and keeping our website current and easy to use.
- Helping individual ministries and church-wide events get the word out well.
- Creating print and web graphics, our pre- and post-roll slides, and the signs around our building.
- Sitting in staff meetings and ministry conversations so communications never feel like an afterthought, and coaching volunteers along the way.
Is This You?
- You love to create and bring ideas to life in a way that motivates people to act.
- You can support in belief and practice our Statement of Faith and Lifestyle Statement.
- You communicate clearly and creatively, and you're comfortable with the tools of the trade.
