Listowel Baptist Church is seeking a pastor who is passionate about reaching and discipling youth, young adults and families through a locally missional and intergenerational approach. This role is centered on engaging and empowering the next generation to place their faith in Jesus and live it out through evangelism, discipleship, and service.

The Intergenerational Pastor will actively engage in local schools, community partnerships, and broader ministry networks, while fostering strong connections within the church family. This individual will serve with vision, develop leaders, and help maintain a culture where faith is lived out across households and generations.

The Intergenerational Pastor will also collaborate closely with the Lead Pastor, Deacons Board, and Grow Committee to support the overall vision of the church, contribute to ministry planning, and encourage spiritual growth within the church family.

Key Responsibilities

1. Missional Outreach & Connection (Primary Focus)

  • Lead a locally mission-focused ministry that engages unchurched families and emerging generations.
  • Build relationships through presence in local schools, community programs, and partnerships (e.g., Youth for Christ).
  • Create accessible and welcoming pathways for youth, young adults, and families to connect intergenerationally within the church.

2. Pastoral Care & Discipleship

  • Provide pastoral leadership marked by care, compassion, and spiritual guidance to families, and next-generation ministry leaders.
  • Disciple individuals within the context of their families, encouraging whole-household faith formation and mentoring.
  • Support parents and care-givers in discipling the next generation within their homes and daily life.

3. Leadership Development & Team Building

  • Identify, mentor, and empower emerging leaders across families and age groups.
  • Recruit, train, and support volunteers with a heart for discipleship and family ministry.
  • Create clear pathways for leadership growth, ownership, and service.
  • Foster a collaborative, mission-driven team culture.

Additional Responsibilities

4. Church & Network Collaboration

  • Collaborate with church leadership to align ministry with the overall vision and mission.
  • Contribute to ministry planning and church-wide initiatives.
  • Build relationships within denominational and local ministry networks.
  • Facilitate connections with other churches for shared events, learning, and outreach opportunities.

5. Administration & Ministry Oversight

  • Plan and coordinate ministry activities, events, and outreach initiatives.
  • Manage communication channels (e.g., email, social media).
  • Oversee scheduling and ministry calendar.
  • Ensure safe, organized, and effective ministry practices that align with church-wide policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Spiritual & Pastoral

  • A growing, personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • A clear calling to pastoral ministry focused on families and emerging generations.
  • Demonstrates a genuine pastor’s heart—relational, compassionate, and approachable.
  • Passion for local mission and community engagement.

Skills & Experience

  • Strong communication and organizational abilities.
  • Experience in family ministry, youth ministry, young adult ministry, or community-based ministry.
  • Involvement (or willingness to be involved) with Youth For Christ and school-based programs.
  • Strong relational and leadership development skills.
  • Accreditation in good standing with CBOQ is required. Candidates not currently accredited must be eligible and willing to pursue accreditation and maintain good standing as a condition of continuing in the position.

Education (Preferred)

Bible college, seminary, or equivalent ministry experience.

Core Values

  • Missional focus in local community
  • Intergenerational discipleship within families and households
  • Pastoral care and relational ministry
  • Leadership multiplication
  • Collaboration within the wider church network

Key Outcomes

  • Families, adults, and seniors regularly building relationships and serving together both in the local church context and in the community. This role is about walking with people over time, not just running events.
  • Emerging generations developing as disciples and leaders within the life of the church and their families.
  • Increased engagement by unchurched families in existing and new programs at Listowel Baptist Church.
  • Strong partnerships between Listowel Baptist Church, Youth For Christ, local schools, and community programs.
