Director, Kids & Youth Ministry (1 full-time role or 2 part-time roles)

About Family Ministries at WMB Church

Family Ministries is a discipleship-oriented ministry that seeks to see all members of the family become followers of Jesus through partnership and discipleship of parents, kids and youth ministries, and partnering with other ministries. This role will be responsible for the equipping, support, and leadership of our Kids & Youth Ministries. WMB Kids is a discipleship ministry focused on infants to Grade 5, to experience God’s love through the leadership and discipleship of people who are living transformed lives for Jesus.  WMB Kids resources and equips leaders and parents to help our children learn, discover, interact with, and respond to the invitation to be a disciple of Jesus, and to engage the world around them through this lens. WMB Youth is a discipleship ministry focused on Junior (gr 6-8) Youth and Senior (gr 9-12) Youth, which provides intentional spaces for youth to learn, discover, and be equipped as followers of Jesus.  Through its leaders, Youth Ministry strategically and intentionally helps youth to follow Jesus in the context of everyday life, and to be equipped for service.

The Ideal Director, Kids & Youth Ministry:

We are currently seeking a Kids & Youth Ministry Director to join our Family Ministry team. We are seeking either one-full time or two-part time roles. We are looking for an emotionally mature, ministry-minded leader who is passionate about using their skills and gifts to cast vision and implement strategy for a new season of Kids & Youth Ministry. You will be part of the Family Ministry team, working collaboratively with staff & lay leaders, under the direction of, and reporting directly to the Pastor, Family Ministries. The successful candidate will be a prayerful leader who thrives in a collaborative culture and is able to balance leading and discipling kids, youth, lay leaders, and parents. You will be a follower of Jesus with MB theological fluency, a deep desire to see people come to know Jesus, have a solid grasp of the Gen Z and Gen Alpha generations, be passionate about creating inclusive and discipleship-based learning environments, and have a proven ability to recruit and train lay leaders and volunteers.

Primary Position Responsibilities: 

• Coordinate and develop cultures, environments and opportunities for kids and youth to be discipled.  
• Support and communicate the overall Family Ministries vision and strategy.
• In alignment with the overall strategy and theology of WMB Church, assist in selecting and implementing curriculum, worship music, and other resources for Youth & Kids Ministry so that kids are learning at a level that is age and developmentally appropriate.
• Recruit, equip, and minister to Kids & Youth Ministry Volunteers so that they may further develop their gifts (i.e., leadership, teaching, helps) and a passion for ministry to kids as they serve kids, parents and helpers.
• Assist in the coordination and administration of ministry programing, retreats, camps, and events. 
• Actively contribute to the WMB staff team by participating in staff meetings, professional development days, Sunday services, and churchwide events

Core Competencies:

• Proven understanding of, and ability to communicate to multiple generations, specifically GenAlpha (infant – gr. 5) and Gen Z.
• Clear communicator in both oral and written form – able to express ideas well, explain concepts and inspire others to join and follow you.
• Proven solution-oriented problem solver, adaptable and able to make decisions in stressful situations.
• Able to work with a diverse group of people, negotiating relationships professionally and respectfully while holding people accountable to the guidelines of the church, the denomination and government requirements 
• Ability to learn and adapt to new technology for communication and presentation.
• Proficient in Google suite and related products.

• Compensation will be determined based on experience, skills, and qualifications.

Employment Details for Current Vacancy

• Employment Type: 1 full-time role (40 hours) or 2 part-time roles (20 hours) 
• Work Location: In person, Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario, Canada

Qualifications & Experience

• Must have a deep, growing personal faith in Jesus Christ, support the Confession of Faith of the Canadian MB Conference and be willing to become a Member of WMB Church.
• A Bachelor's degree or higher in Pastoral ministry, Biblical or theological studies, or Kids or Youth ministry is preferred but not required. 
• Proven track record of effective leadership, judgement and decision making.
• Display a strong moral character, honesty, humility and integrity.
