To this end, in partnership with like-minded disciple-making ministries around the world, we seek to extend their reach and magnify their impact.  By focusing on sustainable catalysts such as: Education, Agriculture, Midwifery and Entrepreneurship, we provide physical and spiritual hope in Jesus’ name.

Job Description

Katalyst is seeking a Beekeeping Trainer who will work in collaboration with local experts to create a 'model apiary.’ The ‘model apiary’ will include operational and instructional bee colonies, hive manufacturing, resourcing of bees and supplies, processing of honey and bee products and will conduct regular in-person and distant education training.

The Missionary Beekeeping Trainer will help to empower church planters and Christian workers to become part-time beekeepers through entry level training and ongoing mentoring.

This position is not just about beekeeping. Successful applicants will require an entrepreneurial acumen to establish the apiary, develop appropriate training models, coach beekeepers-in-training,  and help trainees customize their beekeeping enterprises based on local demand.

Key Job Functions

  • Setting up and managing the model apiary as a demonstration operation for training purposes;
  • Training pastors and Christian workers to be beekeepers
  • Identifying market opportunities and helping trainees to develop bee product-related enterprises;
  • Providing consultation and support for trainees as they grow their respective enterprises;
  • Working overseas is required but the work could also be accomplished through stints of several months overseas at a time. The overseas location is to be determined by mutual agreement.

Job Requirements:

  • Christian Faith: A growing walk with the Lord Jesus, including personal spiritual growth and the ability to support others in their spiritual growth.
  • Servant Leadership: Balance expertise with humility.
  • Character and Conviction: Demonstrate the ability to work in a team and influence others through godly character.
  • Communication Skills: Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Adaptability: Ability and flexibility to adapt to changing situations and environments.
  • Background Checks: A satisfactory Criminal Records Check and Child Abuse Registry Check.
  • Commitment: Able to sign the Statement of Faith and Lifestyle Statement of KATALYST.
  • Location: Must reside in the country of service or make regular trips to the country of service
  • Experience: Must have numerous years of successful beekeeping experience
  • Woodworking skills: Must be willing and able to build beehives and frames from scratch

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience training or mentoring beekeepers.
  • Experience living and working outside the US or similar cultural contexts.
  • Open to alternative approaches to beekeeping such as horizontal hives and/or low-intervention, limited chemical approaches.

Compensation

This is a voluntary position. Candidates must be able to support themselves financially and/or raise external support to cover ministry expenses. Katalyst World Partners offers support through donor receipting for fundraising in the USA and Canada, as well as access to a fundraising coach.
