Position Description

CONTEXT

Strategically we follow Jesus and His disciple making ways as outlined in the gospels to resource our church on mission.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Kids Ministries Pastor will lead OSAC in facilitating a dynamic kid’s ministry (birth to grade 6). One that is Spirit dependent and imagined, locally contextual, evangelistic, safe, fun, developmental, equipping and collaborative, aligned with the overall mission of OSAC.

POSITION TYPE

This is a full time 30-40 hr position with a salary in the range of 40 - 60K based on C&MA salary grid guidelines.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

The Kids Ministries Pastor will have a growing and deep love for Jesus, His church, children and families. They will have superior character and work ethic. They will have a life that exhibits increased Christlikeness through discipleship. They will be able to provide evidence, and clearly describe God’s calling and gifting on their life to the equipping work of pastoral ministry (Ephsians 4:10). They will be passionate about seeing children from birth to Grade 6 come to know and follow Jesus. They will be a Christlike servant leader, who demonstrates humility and teachability. They will embrace and facilitate collaboration with other staff, parents and kids ministry leaders. They will have a proven ability to disciple and equip individuals to serve in ministry, to lead teams, communicate clearly, and manage ministry logistics. They will be a strong communicator with both children and adults, taking a creative and energetic approach to ministry while being administratively disciplined, organized, reliable, and detail-oriented.

MINISTRY SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership & Strategy:

Provide vision and strategic leadership oversight for Kids Ministry. Align curriculum, teaching, and kids ministry programming with broader OSAC mission and strategic church wide initiatives. Foster a strong culture of equipping the church to serve in Kids Ministry, rooted in discipleship and spiritual maturity. Recruit, train and empower individuals to serve in various kids ministry roles. (ie. Sunday Ministry Helpers, Teachers, Registration - Kids Ministry Lead Team - Moms N Tots - 56ers Ministry - Summer VBS & Camps Ministry - Family Events - Sunday Services, Family Worship, Christmas/Easter/Church Picnic Services).

Family Engagement:

Partner with parents to support faith formation at home. Provide resources, events, and communication to equip families in the discipleship of their children. Collaborate with other ministries for integrated family ministry.

Administrative/Other:

Implement and maintain abuse prevention policies for kids ministry. Assist with baptism preparation, child dedications, service planning. Manage Kids Ministry budget, supplies, classrooms and curriculum. Maintain accurate attendance and ministry leader records. Use church tools (e.g., Planning Center) to coordinate teams and communicate effectively.

Professional Qualifications

  • 3+ years experience in children’s ministry or similar leadership role in a church.
  • A degree in theology or Christian ministry is preferred.
  • Able to pass licensing/accreditation with the Central Canadian District of C&MA Canada
