Position Description

St. Philip on-the-hill (SPOTH) is a warm, diverse and welcoming Anglican church located in Unionville, Ontario. We have a joyful, traditional Anglican worship service on Sunday mornings using contemporary language with choir-led singing that is live-streamed. A Minister of Music is being sought by SPOTH, to provide Christian leadership in an engaging ministry of music, sensitive to the Anglican tradition.

This historic parish is a worshipful, thriving community of 300 families with a mission to our growing community.  We are seeking a Christian leader who is a team-player, knowledgeable of, or willing to learn, traditional Anglican and contemporary church music, and enjoys working with all age groups.  Responsibilities include planning, playing for, and conducting Sunday Services, nurturing and developing musical talent within the congregation, musically supporting our two youth drama and music groups, and directing our Adult Choir.

Knowledge of Anglican liturgy is preferable, though training is available.  The church has a 3 manual, 40-stop digital Phoenix organ (2010) and a Heintzman 7-foot Grand Piano.  The applicant for this contract should have a music degree, strong organ and piano skills, experience conducting choirs, with sound leadership and interpersonal skills.  A job description is available upon request.

Compensation: Hours are flexible, between 12 and 15 hours a week.  Salary negotiable depending on experience.

Note: Currently, we are not able to look at international applicants. We are seeking an individual who lives locally, within driving distance to SPOTH.

Please email Ms. Jennipher Kean at office@spoth.ca with a cover letter and resume (CV) on or before September 25, 2025. We thank all applicants, however, only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
