About the Accounts Payable Manager
Reporting to the Sr. Director of Finance, the Accounts Payable Manager plays a pivotal leadership role in overseeing and strengthening The GC’s accounts payable systems in both Canada and the U.S. This is a key position ensuring accuracy, efficiency, compliance, and a high level of customer service to ministry partners.
This leader will steward processes, develop people, automate systems, and help take the ministry to its next level of Kingdom effectiveness.
Specifically, in this role you’d be responsible for:
Accounts Payable Leadership
- Overseeing and approving U.S. and Canadian payables daily for accuracy and compliance.
- Managing vendor onboarding and ensuring strong data integrity.
- Monitoring bank balances, AP aging, journal entries, and month-/year-end cut-offs.
- Preparing and filing U.S. 1099s and Canadian T4As on time.
- Ensuring consistent application of account codes across teams.
- Identifying and implementing process improvements and automation opportunities.
Team Management
- Leading daily stand-ups and weekly meetings with staff.
- Setting priorities, troubleshooting issues, and managing staffing/workload distribution.
- Building a culture of collaboration, professional growth, and open communication.
- Maintaining strong internal controls while balancing efficiency.
Organizational & Cross-Functional Leadership
- Collaborating with the Ministry Account Advisor team to strengthen payment processes.
- Managing the relationship with the organization’s wire provider.
- Updating and managing U.S. and Canadian financial policies and procedure documentation.
- Leading special projects and contributing to time-to-pay metrics.
- Discipling and supporting team members in their faith and work integration.

What You Bring
You bring:
- A bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA preferred).
- 8+ years progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibilities.
- Experience leading or participating in special projects such as new system implementations, process improvements and/or workflow automation.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian and U.S. Accounts Payable standards, including GST/HST, 1099 reporting, and compliance requirements.
- Experience with or readiness to work in Microsoft Office, Raiser’s Edge, Financial Edge, Asana, SharePoint and Microsoft Dynamics.
- Experience managing internal controls, month-end processes, or AP teams.
- The ability to manage multiple priorities with calm, clarity, and strong decision making.
- High ethical standards, professionalism, and financial stewardship.
- A genuine love for helping ministries flourish through excellent operational support.

Working Details: This is a new, full-time, permanent, non-unionized, in-office role out of the St. Catharine’s ON or Abbotsford BC office. Participation in meetings, all-staff events, and special cross-departmental gatherings is required.
Salary Details: $65,000 – $85,000 CAD with health benefits and matching RRSP contribution.
