Position Description

Markham Peoples Community Church (“MPCC”) is a growing, multi-ethnic and intergenerational church located in the City of Markham, Ontario. We are looking for a passionate full-time Children and Youth Ministry Pastor to lead our dynamic Children and Youth Ministries. We are committed to raising the next generation — including children and youth — to become disciples of Jesus Christ through holistic care for them and their families. We are also dedicated to partnering with parents, equipping them to intentionally disciple their children and youth.

Roles and Responsibilities

1. Reporting to the Senior Pastor, the Children and Youth Pastor oversees all aspects of Children and Youth Ministries, serving individuals from newborns through Grade 12.
2. Design, implement, and lead Children and Youth Ministries that are developmentally appropriate, creatively engaging, and aligned with the mission, vision, and values of MPCC, grounded in a strong biblical foundation.
3. Preach and teach the Word of God to children, youth, and, on occasion, the broader church body through a variety of settings and opportunities.
4. Develop, lead, and implement parent-focused ministries that support the spiritual growth, parenting skills, and family relationships of children and youth.
5. Recruit, equip, and disciple adult and youth leaders to serve in Children and Youth Ministries.
6. Provide pastoral care and counseling to children, youth, and families as needed.
7. Collaborate with the pastoral team in developing ministries that support transitions, such as children to youth, youth to young adults, and parents to adult/family ministries.
8. Partner with Markham Wesley Centre and other community stakeholders to minister effectively to children, youth, and families.
9. Work alongside other pastoral staff in planning and executing MPCC events and programs.
10. Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor.

Prerequisites

1. A mature follower of Christ who has a vibrant and growing relationship with Jesus.
2. A child of God who is called to minister to children, youth, and their families, driven by a passion for Jesus, the Gospel, and discipleship.
3. A servant leader who is capable of guiding and communicating effectively with diverse stakeholders.
4. A collaborative team player who works closely with pastors, deacons, parents, and volunteers.
5. A bachelor’s degree holder, or equivalent, from an accredited Bible college or university.
6. A minister with experience in Children and Youth Ministries, or equivalent, preferred.
7. A person who is proficient in using social media and other media platforms for the education and engagement of children, youth, and parents.
8. A person who fully embraces the mission, vision, and values of MPCC.
9. A person who is proficient in both conversational and written English.
