Position Description

Purpose of the Position

The Next Generations Pastor serves as the champion for children, youth, young adults, and their families within the broader ministry of Grace Memorial. This role provides leadership, vision, encouragement, and administrative oversight to all Next Generations ministries.

Core Roles and Responsibilities

Ministry Alignment and Vision

• Develop and implement a cohesive ministry plan for children, youth, and young adults aligned with the church’s overall vision.
• Host regular planning and evaluation meetings with ministry leaders to foster collaboration, unity, and strategic alignment.
• Ensure smooth, supportive transitions for young people as they move from one ministry age group to the next.

Leadership Development

• Oversee the recruitment, training, and spiritual formation of children, youth, and young adult leaders.
• Coach and mentor team leaders to cultivate the knowledge, character, and practical skills needed for effective ministry.
• Model healthy Christian leadership and a lifelong commitment to discipleship.
• Provide active support to volunteers and ministry staff to ensure joy and success in their calling.

Discipleship and Outreach

• Communicate the Gospel through engaging, relevant, and memorable experiences tailored for young people.
• Create local and global service opportunities that empower children, youth, and young adults to put their faith into action.

Family Partnership and Pastoral Care

• Equip and resource parents as the primary spiritual nurturers of their children.
• Actively engage families to cultivate a faith-building environment in the home.
• Provide direct pastoral care for children, youth, young adults, and their families.

Intergenerational Integration

• Design ministry initiatives that build meaningful relationships across all age groups in the congregation.
• Seek meaningful ways to engage interaction and relationship building between all generations.

Safe Environment and Advocacy

• Serve as a voice for young people, ensuring they have a meaningful role in the life of the church.
• Maintain a safe, caring, and welcoming environment where youth can explore faith and grow spiritually.
• Ensure ongoing compliance with and updates to the church’s Plan to Protect policy.

Church Community Participation

• Serve as an active pastoral leader within the Grace community.
• Be a supportive and encouraging presence as part of the staff and team of Grace.
• Contribute to church-wide decision-making, strategic planning, and collaborative projects and be a part of the rotation of worship speakers and leaders.
