Position Description

We are located in Schreiber, Ontario at 220 Bayview Street. Our church overlooks beautiful Lake Superior and our town is 2 hours east of Thunder Bay, Ontario. Ours is a railway community, comprised of many Italian families which have grown up here. Close to half of our population are senior citizens.

Our present outreach consists of : Sunday Service, 2 services each month at the local hospital, and a newspaper article which reaches 5 communities (approx. 6000 people). Our population is 1,000 - with about 2,000 others within a 30 minute drive. Approximately one hour east of us is a large First Nations reserve and the town of Marathon (about 4,000 people) and the only evangelical work in that area is the Pentecostal church in Marathon.   There is only one other evangelical work in our area as well; a Pentecostal church that has an average attendance of 40. There is an Anglican Church in our town without a regular minister and approx. one dozen adherents. The Catholic Church has around 100 people regularly attending.

Our church building includes an attached two floor 3 bedroom apartment and was built in seventies. About 20 years ago there were renovations, including new insulating, siding, and a new roof. The apartment has a living room fireplace with an insert to burn wood which can augment the heat. It would be rent free and utilities would be included.

Our services have around 8 people regularly attending. We presently have no debt, our building is paid off, and there are assets in place to aid in ministry. Our church is affiliated with the F.E.B.C.C. My wife and I will be retiring at the end of June, this year and we will be moving to Marathon (1 hour away). This will be our 24th year in ministry at Grace Baptist Church.
