Position Description
Wainfleet BIC Church is seeking a Part-Time Children’s Ministry Director to join our ministry team. This role is ideal for someone who loves Jesus, has a heart for children and families, and is passionate about creating engaging, faith-forming environments where children can grow in their relationship with Christ.
The Children’s Ministry Director at Wainfleet BIC Church is a part-time leadership role (24 hours/week) responsible for overseeing all aspects of children’s ministry. This role focuses on creating meaningful, Christ-centered experiences for children and families, supporting and equipping volunteers, and ensuring smooth weekly, monthly, and annual programming.
The Director provides spiritual leadership, administrative oversight, volunteer coordination, and hands-on Sunday morning support, working closely with the pastoral team. Key responsibilities include curriculum preparation, volunteer scheduling and training, parent communication, attendance tracking, special events, and Vacation Bible School planning. The role reports directly to the Co-Lead Pastor and requires spiritual maturity, strong relational skills, and a passion for children and the local church.
The Children’s Ministry Director plays a key leadership role in shaping meaningful ministry experiences, supporting volunteers, and partnering with parents as we help children experience Jesus in fresh and life-giving ways, until every home is led by Jesus
Position Details
- Position: Children’s Ministry Director (Part-Time)
- Hours: 24 hours per week
- Pay: $22/hour (commensurate with experience)
- Start Date: April 1, 2026
- Accountability: Reports to Pastor Renee and Pastor Trevor
- Schedule: Office hours two days per week; Sundays 8:30–12:30 (approximately 3 Sundays/month in Kids’ Korner)
Qualifications
- Demonstrated spiritual maturity and exemplary Christian character
- Membership in the Be in Christ Church
- A passion for children and the local church
- Strong relational, communication, and organizational skills
- Administrative competence and attention to detail
- Successful completion of Vulnerable Sector Police Check
Key Responsibilities
Weekly
- Prepare and review Sunday lessons, materials, crafts, and media
- Build and equip our children’s ministry volunteer team
- Communicate with volunteers and parents as needed
- Track attendance and follow up with families
- Supervise the Children’s Ministry Assistant
- Oversee and support mid-week children’s programming
- Attend staff meetings
Sunday Mornings
- Ensure all children’s spaces and materials are ready
- Support volunteers and assist with check-in and attendance
- Welcome families and new children
- Be available to support children and volunteers as needed
Monthly
- Create volunteer schedules for Kids’ Korner and Nursery
- Manage Planning Center scheduling and curriculum distribution
- Communicate regularly with parents
- Submit leadership team reports
- Restock snacks and supplies
Yearly & Seasonal
- Recruit, train, and support volunteers
- Plan and execute special children’s and family events
- Assist with Summer Intern oversight and Vacation Bible School
- Prepare the annual ministry report
- Coordinate children’s involvement in special services
- Review and renew curriculum
As Needed
- Maintain ministry supplies
- Send encouragement and appreciation to parents and volunteers
