About the Church

The Vulcan Evangelical Missionary Church (EMC) is situated in the town of Vulcan, Alberta, taking part in a close community and valuing traditional and reverent worship through hymns and music. The congregation of Vulcan’s EMC appreciates the value of scripture and its inherent wisdom, and cherishes the abundance of teachings that may arise from it.

Job Overview

We are seeking a new part-time pastor to guide the congregation through reading and interpreting the word of God, with clear reverence for Christ and a pure care for Christ’s body, and the heart to endure with and for the congregation to the purpose of the edification of the church. In summation, we are looking for a pastor who “… bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.” (1 Corinthians 13).

Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the Pastor involve the teaching of truths rooted in scripture’s wisdom, the counselling of individuals and families, the discipling of those eager to grow, and the providing of pastoral care to whoever is in need of it. This shepherd will also involve himself in church events, being present for the benefit of congregants, leading prayer groups and bible studies, being as a servant to the church, “For he who is least among you all will be great.” (Luke 9:48)

Qualifications

• A calling to Pastoral Ministry
• Pastoral training or equivalent ministry experience
• Ordination or willingness to be ordained in the EMCC
• Great communication skills
• Humble and compassionate leadership skills
• Prior experience in ministry for a small/rural church would be helpful, but is not necessary.

Additional Details

Salary and benefits will be discussed during the interview process. The applicant will be working in-person at the church, in a part-time position, with an expectation of around 20-30 hours a week.
