Job Summary:
The mission of the Advancement Department is to articulate the critical role of private philanthropy to the University and the vast opportunities for voluntary support in the life of the Institution. The Department is charged with maximizing the financial gift support to the Institution by seeking private contributions in order to increase the margin of excellence of its educational programs. Reporting to the Vice President for Advancement, the Director of Development’s primary focus will be to secure short- and long-term funding for the needs of the University. The Director will be responsible for developing and implementing the strategies to meet desired revenue targets for Crandall University. This includes the Annual Operating Fund and restricted fund programs.
Key Duties:
- Collaborate with the Vice President for Advancement, President, and other members of the Advancement Team to develop and implement an annual plan to meet the fundraising target for the Annual Operating Fund as set by the Board including cultivating donor relationships; meeting face-to-face with donors which will require travel; reviewing monthly progress reports related to donations; preparing funding proposals; and ensuring CRA regulations are being properly implemented.
- Solicit funds for scholarships and other restricted funds including meeting with potential donors to request funds; ensuring agreements exist between donors and the University related to these restricted funds; and communicating with donors and other University departments regarding these funds.
- Develop and manage the University’s Planned Giving Program including cultivating donor relationships for planned giving; presenting regular planned giving seminars; preparing planned giving materials; and developing relationships with planned giving professionals.
- Contribute to Advancement Office initiatives as directed by the Vice President for Advancement.
Qualifications:
- A university degree with advanced degrees or qualifications considered an asset.
- Minimum of six years of experience in fundraising and management, preferably in educational or non-profit fundraising
- Knowledge of, and connections to, the funding community
- Familiarity with donor tracking systems
- Aptitude for major gift calls
- Experience in outreach and engagement communication methods including web, social networking applications, direct mail, email, and phone
- Experience in customer relationship management and/or affinity programs
- Demonstrated skills in writing, organization, and attention to detail
- Demonstrated commitment to accountability, measuring outcomes, and a results-oriented culture
- Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail
- Must be a self-starter
