Position Description
Job Synopsis
This role contributes to MCC BC’s mission of sharing God’s love and compassion through relief, development, and peacebuilding by walking alongside newcomer families as they build stability, skills, and belonging in their new communities.
MCC BC’s New Foundations (NF) Program supports newcomers to Canada with dependents to fully and healthily participate in Canadian society through an eight-month, participant-centred program focused on financial capability, employment readiness, life skills, and social connection.
Reporting to the Program Coordinator and working as part of MCC BC’s Program team, the New Foundations Program Associate provides leadership for the delivery of the program in the Greater Victoria region, working closely with participants, volunteers, churches, community partners, and supporting staff, including the Program Assistant and Program Intern, to ensure effective program delivery. This role is designed with a strong learning and development focus, with responsibilities that increase over time under the supervision of the Program Coordinator.
MCC BC is a faith-based organization, and this role is carried out within the context of MCC BC’s Christian identity and values, including participation in organizational faith practices and engagement with churches and faith communities.
Qualifications
ESSENTIAL
- Demonstrated commitment to a personal Christian faith and discipleship, active participation in a Christian church or Christian community, and nonviolent peacemaking
- Two years’ experience facilitating in an adult education environment
- Post-secondary education and/or a combination of related education, training, and experience in multi-cultural settings
- Legally able to work in Canada
- Satisfactory criminal record clearance (required upon hire)
- Valid BC Driver’s License with a satisfactory Driver’s Abstract
PREFERRED
- Based in downtown Victoria or Colwood, or able to demonstrate strong community connections with local networks of churches and community service providers
- Demonstrated understanding of newcomer experiences and challenges
- Competence in other languages
- Experience with facilitating programs in financial literacy, life skills, and/or employment readiness
- Program management experience, including budgeting and reporting

- Confidentiality & Discretion: Handles sensitive information with respect, confidentiality, and sound judgment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership for the planning and delivery of the New Foundations Program in the Greater Victoria region.
- Facilitate a participant-centred, strengths-based learning experience that supports newcomer settlement and wellbeing.
- Recruit, support, and journey alongside program participants throughout the program cycle.
- Recruit, equip, and support volunteers and partner churches involved in program delivery.
- Build and maintain collaborative relationships with community organizations and service providers.
- Coordinate key program components, including group workshops, one-on-one support, matched savings, and community kitchens.
- Ensure accurate program administration, reporting, and evaluation in collaboration with MCC BC staff.
- Participate fully in MCC BC’s organizational and faith life, contributing to a respectful, safe, and accountable organizational culture, and representing MCC with integrity in all settings.
