Position Description
Job Title: Part-Time Worship Leader (Entry level)
Reports To: Lead Pastor/Church Board Members Hours: 6 hours per week
Job Summary:
Church in Regent Park is an urban church in downtown Toronto. The church has been around since 1995 and it serves the vulnerable communities with a food program weekly. The neighbourhoods is a mix group of people from working professionals, newcomers, and low income. The church culture is a warm loving church that is very diverse which is reflection of the local community. The Part-Time Worship Leader will be responsible for leading and organizing the musical worship ministry of the church. This individual will work closely with the lead pastor and other ministry leaders to cultivate a vibrant, Spirit-led worship experience that aligns with the mission and vision of the church.
Responsibilities:
- Plan, prepare, select worship lead and or lead worship for Sunday services and special church events.
- Train and schedule worship team members, including vocalists and instrumentalists.
- Agreement with doctrinal statement of Church in Regent Park and Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada commitment to abide by general operating by-laws.
- Lead weekly rehearsals with the worship team.
- Coordinate with the pastor to ensure worship aligns with the message theme and church calendar.
- Create a place for the presence of God as a priority, desiring the moving of the Holy Spirit during services.
- Introduce new songs that support the church's worship vision while honouring traditional and contemporary styles.
- Work with the media team to ensure smooth audiovisual support for services.
- Intentionally cultivate a worship experience that is more accessible and relevant to the ethnic diversity represented in our congregation.
- Participate in church staff meetings as needed.
- Demonstrate proficiency in understanding of the elements of mix, dynamics, arrangement, roles of band members, working on harmonies with vocalists, etc.
Qualifications:
- A deep personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a passion for leading others in worship.
- Experience or have a desire to leading worship in a church setting.
- Proficiency in singing and playing at least one lead instrument (guitar or piano preferred). • Strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Ability to work well with people of various ages and musical abilities.
Familiarity with worship software, sound systems, and live streaming (preferred but not required). Compensation: The leader will be paid $150 each Sunday and looking to increase compensation as the church grows.
