Position Description

Position Summary

The Children’s Ministry Director provides leadership, organization, and communication for the church’s children’s ministries. This role supports weekly programming, volunteers, and families while helping ensure that children experience a safe, engaging, and spiritually nurturing environment where they can grow in their faith.

Communication & Parent Engagement

• Create monthly and weekly social media posts for: Kids Club Page, Sunday Morning Tykes Parent Page, and Sunday Morning Kids Parent Page.
• Prepare and distribute a weekly Kids Club parent email providing program updates, reminders, and key information.
• Create and distribute Kids Club calendars approximately 2–3 times per year.
• Record video announcements for Sunday morning services when needed.
• Program Coordination
  • Coordinate, implement and oversee Kids Club programming (approximately 6–8 months of the year).
  • Coordinate and lead Kids Club planning meetings (approximately twice per year).
  • Coordinate, implement and oversee Summer VBS or Summer Kids Club programming.
  • Set up classrooms for children’s ministry programming.
  • Purchase and organize supplies needed for ministry programs. 
• Meet with children and parents as needed or requested to provide support, answer questions, and build relationships with families in the ministry.
• Supervise Summer Interns.
• Participate in hiring, training, scheduling, ministry support, and final evaluations.
• Participate in special church events such as Good Friday services, Christmas Eve services, and Spring cleaning day.

Volunteer Recruitment & Training

• Recruit volunteers for children’s ministry programs.
• Provide training and onboarding for Kids Ministry volunteers, including: Volunteer Application Form, Volunteer Expectations Document, Police Checks, MMT approval, Protection Policy training and sign-off, and ministry orientation.
• Coordinate new volunteers with experienced volunteers to help them transition into their roles.

Administration

• Create and update Children’s Ministry registration forms for Kids Club, Sunday Morning Nursery, Sunday Morning Tykes & Kids, and VBS/Summer Kids Club as needed. 
• Participate in Monthly Children’s Ministry Lead Team (LT) Meetings, including preparing agendas and recording meeting minutes. 
• Research and evaluate children’s ministry curriculum in partnership with the Transformation Executive and Lead Pastor.
• Participate in weekly Staff Huddle.
