Position Description
2026/2027 Program Year
Linwell Church, a vibrant faith community in the north end of St. Catharines, offers a variety of programs for children and youth from our church and community. We are seeking an enthusiastic, energetic, passionate Christian adult to serve as a Youth Worker with responsibilities for planning and program delivery totalling up to 15 hours per week with flexible start and end dates (e.g., August 31, 2026 – May 21, 2027). Salary will be based on experience and will range between $20 – $25 per hour.
Note: We are also open to applications from those seeking to cover just one of these 3 areas of ministry.
Details:
- Responsible for leading mid-week evening programs - Kids Club (SK to gr. 5), Junior Youth (gr. 6 – 8) and Senior Youth (gr. 9 – 12) – current program information (no requirement to be at Linwell on Sundays)
- Program dates/timing can be adjusted to align with candidate preferences/availability (e.g., two to three nights per week) from September to May (programming mirrors school-year calendar and is paused on statutory holidays, PD Days, winter break, March Break, etc.)
- The Discipleship Committee will support the Youth Worker, including help with volunteer recruitment
- Paid hours include set up and clean up on program evenings, planning, communication with families, and meetings with pastor/committee
Skills and Responsibilities
The Youth Worker must have the ability and willingness to:
- Model and joyfully share love of Jesus
- Ensure that the children’s/youth ministries are safe, positive, engaging and provide for rich spiritual growth opportunities
- Relate to the unique needs of children in today’s culture
- Engage and communicate with parents as partners
- Coordinate and support a team of enthusiastic volunteers
- Be diligent and thoughtful in preparation for program evenings, including set up and clean up, preparation of materials, volunteer coordination, advertising, etc.
- Communicate well with church leaders and members (i.e., bulletin announcements, website updates, weekly family emails, emerging issues, etc.)
- Oversee the expenditures of the children’s/youth ministries and maintain programs within established budget parameters
- Demonstrate organizational skills in implementation of ministries
- Commit to weekly programming as agreed upon when hired, with flexibility (i.e., exams, vacation, etc.).
