Duration: 10 weeks
Hours: 35 hours per week
Wage: $17.60 per hour

Description:
Hope Church Innerkip is seeking an individual to serve as a Youth Recreational and Leisure Activities Program Coordinator. This role is primarily focused on research, planning, and development of future community programming, with a special emphasis on creating a sustainable, low-cost summer day camp model to support families. The role will also include coordinating some programs already running at Hope Church.
Working alongside church staff and community partners, you will:
- Research and evaluate existing summer day camp models, particularly those serving families with financial or accessibility barriers
- Build relationships with local organizations or governments to learn about existing partnerships.
- Develop a comprehensive proposal for launching a future day camp, including:
- Program structure and sample schedules
- Budget planning and cost analysis
- Staffing and volunteer needs
- Risk management and safety considerations
- Identification of relevant grants and funding opportunities
- Support coordination of existing summer programs and events as needed
- Contribute to long-term ministry planning and community outreach strategies
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys big-picture thinking, research, and building from the ground up, while remaining flexible to support ongoing ministry work.
Qualifications:
- Must meet Canada Summer Jobs eligibility (ages 15–30 and legally entitled to work in Canada)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Self-motivated and able to work independently
- Must obtain a clean vulnerable section check
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to research, analyze, and present ideas clearly
- Comfortable collaborating with staff, volunteers, and community partners
- Experience in program development, community work, or working with children/youth is an asset
Although travel is not required, the ability to travel locally would be a benefit. Any costs associated with that travel would be covered in the final contract
Training Provided:
- Orientation to church ministries and community context
- Program planning and development guidance
- Training in safe ministry practices and working with vulnerable populations, including Plan to Protect
- Mentorship and regular feedback from staff
