About Grandview Church
Grandview Church seeks a spiritually grounded, community-oriented, and creative Associate Pastor with a heart for neighbourhood ministry.
As a pastor at Grandview, you will be part of a congregation of roughly 100 people worshipping each Sunday. Families with young children make up a significant portion of this congregation. Though theologically diverse, its members are bound together by a shared commitment to justice, prayer, neighbourhood ministry, and creatively telling the story of Jesus.
Grandview’s approach to worship is both liturgical and informal. We treasure songs, prayers, and practices that draw on the gifts and experiences of our congregation and the riches of the broad Christian tradition. Scripture, prayer, and communion are the backbone of our Sunday services.
While Grandview is currently associated with the Canadian Baptists of Western Canada (CBWC), the tension between our membership practices and the denomination’s recent Identity statement has raised questions regarding the future of that relationship. In February 2023, Grandview voted to accept the following inclusion statement, “We welcome into membership those who have been baptized and profess faith in Jesus, and we welcome people into leadership based on the recognition of their gifting, calling, and orientation toward the Spirit, regardless of sexual orientation or gender.”
The Associate Pastor position has two aspects: Youth Formation, and Worship & Community Care Coordination. Youth formation is the priority area Grandview has identified as needing leadership and direction. Other aspects of the role may be adjusted based on the candidate’s giftings and the needs of the pastoral team. For example, Worship Coordination and Administration responsibilities may be shared with other pastoral staff in exchange for additional Community Care and Outreach duties.
If this role is up to full-time hours the responsibilities with Young Adult ministry and Neighbourhood Outreach would expand.
