Position Description
The Children’s Ministry Coordinator provides vision, direction, guidance, training and oversight for the CIT Kids (ages 0 to 11), with a focus on the spiritual and holistic growth of children, their families, and the volunteers serving them. The Children’s Ministry Coordinator works with the CIT Kids Leadership Team to assist in carrying out the CIT Kids mission, goals and the activities that support these goals.

Key Responsibilities:
- Curriculum Development & Planning:
- Curriculum development and utilization of existing curriculum resources (Orange ® Curriculum - Amazing Life Foundation) modifying and adjusting so that it aligns with CIT’s values, mission, and teachings.
- Ensure the curriculum is engaging, age-appropriate, and provides a solid biblical foundation for children.
- Regularly evaluate and adjust the curriculum to meet the needs of the children and their spiritual growth.
- Volunteer Coaching:
- Recruit, train, coach, and schedule volunteers using digital platforms (Planning Center)
- Organize regular meetings and training sessions for CITKids volunteers for vision-casting and to ensure consistency in methodology.
- Provide ongoing encouragement, feedback, and support to volunteers to ensure they feel equipped and confident in their roles.
- Program Coordination:
- Monitor and track attendance creating weekly, monthly, and yearly reports (Planning Center)
- Oversee weekly preparation of all materials (digital and physical) needed for carrying out children’s programs.
- Ensure all children’s areas are well-organized, safe, equipped with appropriate regular supplies/equipment, and are welcoming.
- Plan and implement an annual calendar of events and special projects (e.g. Christmas, Easter, annual Family Group Meetings, Family Night, Kids Outreach, etc.)
- Report to the Kids Ministry Leadership Team, and meet with the pastoral team regularly for planning, support, and accountability
- Work collaboratively with the Youth Ministry to transition Grade 6 kids into CIT Youth, and to encourage youth to serve in kids’ ministry.
- Parental Involvement & Communication:
- Build strong relationships with parents and their families
- Organize parent meetings or informational sessions to communicate program goals, expectations, and opportunities for involvement.
- Safety & Child Protection:
- Ensure that volunteers and staff are familiar with and follow safety procedures in line with the CIT Plan to Protect Policies and Procedures.
- Maintain up-to-date records of children’s attendance, medical information, and emergency contacts utilizing the CIT management programme – Planning Center.
- Ensure that background checks are conducted for all volunteers in accordance with CIT Vulnerable Sector Screening policies.
- Budgeting and Resource Management:
- Plan and manage the Kids Ministry budget
- Purchase and manage curriculum, classroom supplies, and other resources needed for effective teaching.
- Spiritual Leadership:
- Lead by example, modeling Christ-like behavior and encouraging a passion for biblical learning.
- Understands and supports the vision, mission, and the CITKids Operational Vision

Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
- Experience working with children ages 0-11 in a Kids’ Ministry or school setting
- Demonstrated leadership skills of children and adults
- Some college or equivalent education - education in children’s ministry and/or theology is an asset
- Strong understanding of child development and age-appropriate teaching methods.
- Sound Biblical knowledge
- A digital native with a high understanding of technology
- First Aid and CPR certification, or willingness to obtain training
- Satisfactory clearance under the Vulnerable Sector Screening process
Skills:
- Well-developed analytical, problem solving, organizational, administrative and multi-tasking skills
- Strong communication skills in English with individuals of different ages and backgrounds
- Ability to lead and motivate volunteers and staff.
- Passion for working with children and fostering their spiritual growth.
- Ability to convey the gospel message to children in an age-appropriate fashion
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
- Proficiency with basic office software and social media (for communication and outreach purposes).

Working Conditions:
- Working hours will normally include Sundays and shall be coordinated with other CIT ministry workers.
- Ability to work evenings for coordination with the leaders
- Flexibility in hours is available depending on the church’s schedule and events.
- The role may involve occasional travel for training or retreats.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Salary commensurate with experience.
