The Olive Branch Community Church is a Christ-centered congregation located in Markham, Ontario. We are currently in a healthy, transition and hopeful season of ministry, with an average Sunday attendance of 250 and a growing young adults ministry of approximately 50 students/young professionals. More than numbers, we are committed to being a deeply relational church, pastorally grounded, spiritually vibrant and intentionally growing young.
The Olive Branch Community Church is prayerfully seeking a part-time Young Adults Pastor. Primary objective is to develop young adults (ages 18-29 yrs) as disciples of Christ and live out the word of God in their lives. The role focuses on discipleship, preaching, teaching, community life and pastoral care in alignment with The Olive Branch’s mission and helping them cultivate a biblical worldview in a complex cultural landscape.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Cultivate a thriving young adult community through engaging events, programs, outreach initiatives and discipleship opportunities.
- Coordinate and oversee all aspects of young adults programming including weekly gatherings, life groups, retreats, service projects and social events.
- Foster a welcoming environment where young adults can deepen their faith through biblical teaching and build authentic Christ-centered relationships.
- Identify, recruit, equip and mentor a dedicated leadership team passionate about disciplining and investing in the young adult community.
- Lead and support young adult ministry volunteers, ensuring alignment with the church's mission, vision and values.
- Provide ongoing training and discipleship for young adult leaders through regular check-ins, prayer, and development programs.
- Offer pastoral care and counseling to young adults, post-secondary students, volunteers and church members.
- Collaborate with other ministries to create a seamless transition for young adults as they move between youth and adult ministries.
- Effectively communicate ministry updates and information internally to staff, volunteers and the congregation and externally to parents, students, and the community.
- Manage ministry resources responsibly within the designated budget and church policies.
- Participates in the planning and execution of Sunday and other church services.
Qualifications & Expectations:
- Bachelor’s Degree in theology or related field, or equivalent practical experience in young adult ministry leadership
- At least three years of experience in ministry or church environment, working with young adults preferred
- A passion for young adult ministry and a demonstrable track record of success in this field
- Strong leadership skills with experience in building and developing volunteer teams
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and conflict-resolution abilities
- Proven ability to equip and empower leaders, build relationships, and network effectively
- Familiarity with Planning Center or similar church management software
- Skills in social media strategy and digital communication
- Strong Christian faith, exemplifying a life transformed by Jesus Christ
- A deep knowledge of Scripture and how to apply it to real-life situations
- Passion and enthusiasm for the mission of The Olive Branch
- Supportive and championing The Olive Branch Church's statement of faith, vision, core values and staff code of conduct
Other Details:
- Part-time, salaried position
- $30,000-$35,000, based on experience
