Position Description

GBC is looking for man or woman who is a passionate and relational Jesus-follower who will help cultivate a vibrant ministry to youth in grades 6-12 in our church family. Reporting to the Executive Pastor, this part-time staff member will employ their gifts and skills in helping our young people to grow as disciples of Jesus, to integrate into the life of the church, and to be witnesses amongst their peers.

Responsibilities:

• Provide vision, leadership, and oversight for the growth of Grace Bible Church’s Youth Ministries, aligning with GBC’s Mission and Key Values.
• Provide primary teaching and communication for youth gatherings.
• Empower our team of volunteer leaders dedicated to leading and assisting with the youth ministries.
• Coordinate larger events for discipleship and community interaction with youth which could include youth retreats and focused outreach activities.
• Maintain regular ministry communication and collaboration with youth parents and leaders and lead meetings with both these groups.
• Cultivate intergenerational relationships and ministry between youth and the larger church body.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Leading with a heart for discipleship, prioritizing relational ministry over event-driven programming.
• Creating spaces where youth can encounter Jesus and grow in their faith through authentic relationships and consistent spiritual mentorship.

Encouragement of Spiritual Formation:

• Teaching and modelling biblical truth in ways that are engaging and relevant to youth.
• Equipping students to live out their faith in everyday life and encouraging them to pursue a personal relationship with Jesus.

Strong Relational Engagement:

• Investing time in students, making them feel seen, known, and valued.
• Being available to youth outside regular weekly gatherings and, when possible, consider opportunities to attend outside activities, performances, and milestone events.
• Building trust through consistent, caring interactions that reflect the love of Christ.

Leadership Development:

• Mentoring and empowering student leaders and adult volunteers to participate in the discipleship process.
• Developing a positive culture amongst the volunteers.

Alignment with Church Mission and Key Values:

• Aligning youth ministry with the broader mission and values of the church.
• Participating in staff meetings, church-wide initiatives, and contributing to a unified vision for spiritual growth across all generations.

Qualifications:

• A close, personal relationship with Jesus Christ characterized by Biblical literacy, dependence on the Holy Spirit, dedicated service, and a vibrant spiritual journey.
• Teachable, transparent, and accountable.
• Previous experience in youth ministry required.
• A team player with a positive attitude.
• Strong digital literacy skills and familiarity with MS Office.
• Completed or in process of achieving a Bachelor of Theology or related degree from a recognized Bible college or seminary is an asset.
• Experience with Planning Centre would be an important asset.

Position Details:

• Part-time, 12 hours/week, involving evenings and weekends.
• On-site position with ability for some off-site work with approval.
• Salary of $23/hour.
