Youth Pastor

Company: Community Bible Church
Location/Address:
1600 Main St
Stittsville, Ontario , K2S 1P1

Position Description

Now Hiring: Youth and Young Adult Leader

Ottawa, Canada, is a wonderful city full of young people seeking identity, community, and purpose. Things are shifting drastically for youth and young adults, and we want someone who recognizes these trends and understands how Scripture speaks to this rapidly changing landscape. We are looking for someone vulnerable and authentic. A servant-leader who will build a culture for next-generation engagement: one that moves young people from Sunday or weekly attendance to a deeper connection with Jesus, their friends, and the community. Lastly, we desire someone who has a heart to reach young people who are not Christians.

Why CBC?

CBC is a multi-generational, multi-ethnic, church with deep roots in Stittsville and a growing heart for the surrounding region. Our congregation of 200+ is growing and ready for the next chapter for our youth and young adults.

Position Summary

The youth and young adult leader is responsible for overseeing and leading the existing youth group (including both senior and junior high youth), as well as building a young adult (18-29) ministry.

Qualifications

  • Has an authentic relationship with Jesus Christ, a regular prayer life, and a servant’s heart.
  • Has excellent relational skills and is teachable, a person of integrity and trustworthiness, with a good work ethic.

  • Oversee, recruit, and develop a strong team of leaders.
  • Provide appropriate teaching for the various age levels.
  • Maintain open communication channels with the parents so they are aware of events, ministry strategies, and issues that involve youth in a way that encourages partnership and involvement.
  • Plan and design innovative and regular outreach events and provide opportunities for them to invite their friends.
  • Participate in community events that open the door to influence for Christ.
  • Ensure that Plan to Protect procedures and requirements are met.
  • Look for ways to build relationships with the youth and young adults (e.g., visit them at their high schools, coffee time, etc.).
  • Include “high spiritual impact” events and retreats as part of the ministry calendar.  These could include, but are not exclusive to, No Other Name, Mission Trip, Camping Trip, Kingdom Bound, and Snowflake.
  • Keep current with youth/young adult ministries and culture.
  • Prepare a Yearly Calendar.
  • Develop and manage the annual ministry budget, and submit monthly expense claims promptly.
  • Be an active and contributing member of the Ministry Team at Community Bible Church, working collaboratively with other ministry areas, attending weekly staff meetings, and reporting to the Senior Pastor.

Secondary Responsibilities:

  • Lead youth in service projects.
  • Apply for, interview, and coach summer interns, if needed.
  • Assist with our summer Day Camp.
  • Submit an annual report for the CBC annual meeting.
  • Attend CBC community groups, organized events, etc. as much as possible to get to know the people of CBC.
  • Occasionally serve as MC at the Sunday morning service.

Remuneration will be commensurate with experience.
