About AFC
Ambassadors For Christ (AFC) In Canada’s mission is to nurture students toward a courageous faith in Jesus that motivates them to live beyond themselves. This is done with an emphasis on fully honouring their Chinese identity and surrounding community. We are in a season of growth - strengthening our staff team and leadership bench while seeking creative ways to fund our work and build a more sustainable and impactful future.
Why Join AFC?
- Be part of a growing ministry making a meaningful impact among students
- Shape and build a core function that will influence long-term sustainability
- Work alongside a collaborative and mission-driven leadership team
The Opportunity
The Director of Development will build and lead AFC’s fund development function—shaping strategy, cultivating partnerships, and establishing sustainable revenue streams to support long-term ministry impact.
As part of the Senior Leadership Team, you will work closely with the Executive Director and senior leaders to grow funding, strengthen donor engagement, and build a culture of stewardship across the organization.
This is a builder role—ideal for someone who wants to design, not just execute.
What You’ll Do
- Build and execute AFC’s fund development strategy
- Translate organizational strategy into annual and campaign-level fundraising plans
- Cultivate and steward relationships with donors, churches, and partners
- Partner with the Executive Director on major gifts and key initiatives
- Strengthen a culture of stewardship and fundraising across the organization
- Implement systems and processes (including CRM) to support sustainable growth
Is This Role For You?
- Are you a person of mature Christian faith, with a commitment to stewardship, integrity, and meaningful ministry partnerships?
- Do you love engaging donors, partnering with individuals, churches, and community leaders—particularly within the Chinese Christian community—and building relationships rooted in trust and shared mission?
- Can you strategically develop and lead fund development initiatives that grow awareness, deepen engagement, and generate sustainable support across diverse cultural contexts?
- Are you a builder of systems and frameworks—especially within small to mid-sized nonprofit or ministry contexts—rather than simply an executor?
- Are you a compelling storyteller and persuasive communicator—someone who can articulate vision with authenticity and speak or teach in ministry settings with empathy and clarity?
Key Outcomes
- Build and advance a qualified donor pipeline across major gifts, churches, and foundations
- Improve donor retention and deepen engagement year-over-year
- Establish and operationalize core fundraising systems within a year including selecting and integrating a new CRM for the organization
- Achieve annual fundraising targets aligned with the strategic growth plan
- Generate new revenue equivalent to salary after the first year
What We’re Looking For
- 5–10+ years in fundraising, development, or related work
- Proven ability to build and grow donor relationships
- Experience developing fund development strategy and building systems/functions
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Alignment with AFC’s mission, values, and statement of faith
- Cultural awareness within the Chinese Christian community (or willingness to learn)
- Cantonese/Mandarin language skills and GTA ministry networks would be strong assets
