Position Description
Summary
The Assistant to the Children’s Ministry Lead provides creative administrative and leadership support to ensure a vibrant, safe, and organized environment for families. This role combines direct teaching for children (age 3 to grade 6) with strategic projects and logistics to enhance the Sunday School experience and church-wide family engagement.

Responsibilities
- Administrative & Leadership Support
- Work closely with the Children’s Ministry Lead, volunteers, and the Admin Assistant to provide strong administrative support and encouragement.
- Initiate weekly communication with families and identify ways for children to be actively involved in the worship service.
- Adhere to FCC’s Child Protection Policy (Plan to Protect), including the management of volunteer applications and training procedures.
- Communicate snack and craft inventory needs and creatively assess how church space may be used more effectively.
- Ministry Execution
- Effectively communicate lessons to children ranging from age 3 to grade 7.
- With the support of the Lead, administer Sunday School with an emphasis on welcoming summer visitors and creating meaningful experiences for students
- Plan and participate in special events designed for families and children.
- Special Projects & Development
- Collaborate on a designated special project, such as a space redesign, music/game collection, or working with the AV technician to implement digital visitor registration.
- Establish and communicate one SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound) goal for the duration of the role.
Qualifications
- Safety Clearances: Must be able to secure a clear Vulnerable Sector Check and be willing to complete Plan to Protect Orientation Training.
- Self-Management: Ability to work with minimal direction while employing excellent judgement and professionalism.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong computer and technological skills; proficiency in Google Workspace and Planning Center is considered a significant asset.
- Organization: Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize multiple, competing tasks.
- Must meet all eligibility criteria outlined in the Canada Summer Jobs Participant Guide.

Nature of Role: Contract. Term: 8 weeks, commencing June 29, 2026
Regular Working Hours: Sunday to Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Remuneration: $18.60 per hour at 35 hours per week.
