Position Description

Children's Ministry Director (Part-Time, 15 Hours/Week)

The Children's Ministry Director plays a key role in helping the church nurture the faith of the next generation. They will oversee a growing ministry of approximately 40 children. This position provides leadership and vision for a gospel-centered ministry where children are rooted in God's Word, growing in God's grace, and bearing fruit in abundance. By partnering with parents, equipping volunteers, and creating safe and engaging environments for discipleship, the Children's Ministry Director helps cultivate a ministry where children and families are welcomed, supported, and encouraged to grow in Christ.

Primary Responsibilities

Children's Ministry Leadership

  • Lead children's ministry under the oversight of the Associate Pastor
  • Participate in weekly staff meetings and monthly staff development meetings
  • Coordinate Sunday morning children's programming and classroom readiness
  • Provide an active presence and participation in Sunday Morning Children’s Program
  • Support the development of age-appropriate discipleship opportunities for children
  • Coordinate seasonal ministry initiatives including Advent and Holy Week events
  • Encourage and resource parents in the spiritual formation of their children
  • Participate in the PCA Children’s Ministry Network

Volunteer Development and Care

  • Recruit, train, schedule, and support children's ministry volunteers
  • Ensure volunteers are onboarded according to The Vine's Safe Church Policy
  • Foster a healthy volunteer culture through communication and appreciation
  • Provide ongoing support and training for ministry teams

Administration and Coordination

  • Maintain volunteer schedules, ministry records, and communication systems
  • Coordinate classroom resources, curriculum distribution, and ministry supplies
  • Collaborate with other ministries for church-wide events, such as prayer meetings
  • Manage ministry communications with families and volunteers

Qualifications

  • Is a member in good standing of a church
  • Demonstrate a growing and vibrant faith in Jesus Christ
  • Embrace The Vine's vision, values, and theological commitments
  • Has a heart for the spiritual formation of children and families
  • Is organized, dependable, and able to manage multiple responsibilities
  • Communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing
  • Take initiative while also working collaboratively within a team environment
  • Has experience working with children in church, camp, or educational settings

The following would be considered assets:

  • Training or education in ministry, education, child development, or a related field
  • Familiarity with church management systems and Google Workspace tools

Position Details

  • Part-time (15 hours per week)
  • Report to the Associate Pastor
  • Position is primarily remote, with required in-person participation on Sundays and attendance at occasional meetings, events, and ministry activities (Toronto, ON)

Expectations Upon Hiring

  • Successful Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Become a member of The Vine Presbyterian Church (PCA)

Evaluation

After 3 months, the employee will undergo a review by the Associate Pastor. As part of this review, the job description will be reviewed, altered, and given clarity as needed.

Salary and Benefits

Hours and salary are negotiable and will be commensurate with experience. Two weeks paid vacation will be offered. No other benefits will be offered for this position at this time.
