Position Description
The Opportunity
Parkdale Evangelical Free Church is seeking a Pastor to work alongside the Elders to provide spiritual leadership, Biblical teaching, and supportive shepherding to the congregation, with the aim of making disciples and equipping them for ministry.
General Pastoral Qualities and Responsibilities
In leadership, the pastor collaborates with the elders to provide direction and oversight to the ministries of the church. This involves the mentorship of key leaders, coordinating with ministry and office staff, building a healthy culture of prayer, and directly contributing to some elements of the weekly service.
In teaching, the pastor is expected to preach on 36-48 Sundays per year, depending on the availability of lay preachers within the congregation or guest preachers. In addition, the pastor may find other opportunities and occasions to teach inside and outside the church context.
In shepherding, the pastor works with the elders to prepare people for membership and baptism, and liaises with small group leaders to ensure that pastoral care is provided. The pastor will also be involved in hospital visits, weddings, funerals, etc.
