Position Description

Location: Meadowvale Community Church (Mississauga / Peel Region)
Type: Full-Time
Salary: $55,000 – $75,000 / year
Start Date: September 1, 2026

About the Role

Are you passionate about using music, creative arts, and radical hospitality to build inclusive, justice-seeking spaces?

Meadowvale Community Church is evolving. We’re moving away from traditional, top-down church structures and building a decentralized, progressive community hub. We’re looking for a Music & Belonging Lead to act as a creative spark and supportive engine for our community.

In this role, you won't just lead music on Sundays—you’ll help shape an Affirming, anti-racist, and 2SLGBTQIA+ inclusive space, run local community events, manage our space rentals, and share our story online.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Worship, Liturgy & Arts (30%): Lead Sunday music at least twice a month, equip volunteer musicians, and integrate multi-disciplinary arts—focusing on authenticity and collaboration over high-production performance.
  • Care & Reconciliation (30%): Partner with local 2SLGBTQIA+ orgs, champion anti-racism initiatives, and foster safe, welcoming environments for equity-deserving groups.
  • Community Hub & Digital Media (30%): Support local events (open mics, rock jams), manage space rental bookings/contracts, and lead creative strategy for social media and web storytelling.
  • Rest & Sustainable Rhythms (10%): 10% of your paid time is intentionally set aside for personal spiritual care, reflection, continuous learning, and burnout prevention.

Who You Are

  • Music & Arts Minded: Skilled in musical leadership with a talent for bringing out the best in other musicians and creatives.
  • Passionate About Social Justice: Deeply committed to anti-racism, 2SLGBTQIA+ affirmation, and intersectional equity. You don't just care about these values—you live them out.
  • Relational & Collaborative: You prefer "shoulder-to-shoulder" teamwork over hierarchy. You’re approachable, open, and empathetic.
  • Digitally Savvy: Comfortable with social media, basic web tools, and modern AV setups to tell compelling stories online.
  • Theologically Aligned: Grounded in progressive faith/theology with a degree in Music, Ministry, Theology, or equivalent experience) and aligned with Meadowvale’s core faith values.
  • Organized & Proactive: Able to juggle event schedules, rental contracts, and volunteer coordination with clear communication.

Why You’ll Love Working Here

  • Collaborative Culture: You’ll be supported by a staff team and engaged volunteers who treat this work as a shared journey.
  • Equity & Inclusion First: An environment that actively centers equity-deserving voices and continuous learning.
  • Sustainable Rhythms: Work-life balance isn't a buzzword here—it's built into your weekly 10% dedicated rest and study allocation.

How to Apply

If you are excited about creating spaces of belonging, justice, and creative expression, we’d love to hear from you!
