Job Position: Childcare
Director Salary: $65,000
Annually Reports to: Lead Pastor
Position Summary
Faith Church is seeking a passionate, ministry-minded leader to serve as Director of New Hope Childcare. This role will oversee daily operations while leading the ministry toward safe, effective, and intentional community outreach. The ideal candidate will be an active member of Faith Church with a heart for connecting children & families to the life of the church.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of leadership experience in a nonprofit or childcare setting, including administrative oversight
- Experience supervising, supporting, and developing staff and volunteers
- Experience working with children of diverse ages, backgrounds, and abilities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proven interpersonal and team-building abilities
- Basic computer proficiency
- Permanent Resident status
Required Certifications & Clearances:
- Physician’s medical clearance (physical and mental health)
- Criminal Record Check clearance
- Valid First Aid & CPR Certification
- Early Childhood Education (ECE)
- BC Driver's License Class 5
Supervises:
- Out of School (OSC) and Group Daycare Supervisor (GDC)
- Child Care Staff
Key Responsibilities
1. Regulatory Compliance & Governance
- Ensure compliance with all applicable Child Care Licensing Regulations and the Child Care Act, including recognizing, documenting, and reporting incidents to licensing authorities
- Maintain accurate records and ongoing communication with licensing officials
2. Health, Safety & Environment
- Maintain a safe, clean, and healthy environment for all children and staff
- Ensure regular safety inspections of equipment and facilities
- Maintain emergency response plans (fire, earthquake, medical, etc.) and review annually
- Ensure proper medication storage, administration, and documentation
3. Leadership & Oversight Committee Support
- Provide timely information and recommendations to the Child Care Oversight Committee for policy and decision-making
- Implement operational policies established by the Committee
- Maintain enrolment systems including waiting lists, attendance records, child files, and communication logs
- Ensure families are oriented well, including handbook review and centre tour
- Prepare Newsletter to be given to parents and other stakeholders
4. Curriculum & Program Excellence
- Ensure curriculum meets licensing standards and reflects diverse ages, abilities, and cultural backgrounds
- Oversee behaviour management planning in collaboration with families and professionals
- Remain visibly engaged in daily program life, observing and participating regularly
5. Staff Leadership & Development
- Recruit, hire, supervise, and evaluate staff in collaboration with church leadership and the Oversight Committee
- Conduct performance reviews in accordance with policy
- Provide onboarding for new staff, students, and volunteers
- Ensure confidentiality standards are upheld
6. Financial Stewardship
- Oversee fee collection and financial record-keeping procedures
- Develop annual budget proposals with the Oversight Committee
- Review monthly financial statements and ensure fiscal responsibility
7. Community Engagement
- Build positive relationships with children, families, church staff, neighbouring organizations, and community partners
- Stay informed regarding municipal, provincial, and federal childcare initiatives and funding opportunities
